A tip: Place Wolf 359 in an orbit around Betelguise. But be careful to put it in the "green zone". Then put Earth in an orbit around Wolf359 in the green zone. The year on Earth will be quite short, but you will experience that once every "year" there is a point in time where there is day all over the globe at once. :D The temp will rise to about 19c, but I guess one can adjust the orbit for Earth to get it right.

I know "universe sandbox" only provides theoretical inter-spatial views between space objects but one thing I would like to see is the view of our Milky Way galaxy as seen from an earth-like planet's surface located in the satellite galaxy, Large Magellanic Clouds.

Earth changed the trajectory of the moon. The moon was trying to complete an orbit moving away from the top of the screen and toward the bottom of the screen (roughly), but Earth got pulled out of the way by the gravity of the gas giants about a quarter of the way through the orbit. But the gas giants were also pulling the moon itself, so it kept pace with the earth enough to use earth's gravity to start going from bottom to top, instead of top to bottom, and that slinghot it up and over earth.

Why so surprised that Jupiter turned into a star? Some astronomers regard Jupiter as a stillborn star. Had things been a little different, we might have been living in a binary solar system.
@TheDrumstickEmpire
@TheDrumstickEmpire 7 жыл бұрын
Jarrah White actually Jupiter would have to be 57 times its size. I appreciate your knowledge!
@seraphina985
@seraphina985 7 жыл бұрын
+The Drumstick Empire Indeed there is not enough mass to make Jupiter a true star if you eliminate Sol in fact I am pretty sure that there is not enough mass left in the solar system to make a brown dwarf if you eliminate Sol. That alone would need 13 Jupiter masses and the 2% of the Solar system mass which isn't in the Sun is not that large, that said it's plausible a brown dwarf could form at a lower mass from everything left in the solar system but the Sun as it would be unusually rich in dense elements like Iron.

+The Drumstick Empire Not necessarily though we would need to be pretty far out for human civilisation to survive the tides and the increase in seismic activity. The reality is the Earth itself is dense enough to handle Jupiter's gravity surprisingly well if we were on a decaying orbit into Jupiter now the Earth would eventually be destroyed when it hit Jupiter's atmosphere as the roche limit for a body as dense as Earth in Jupiter's gravitational field is several thousand km inside the atmosphere course we would never make it that deep in as the collision with the atmosphere would release a ton of energy Earth is minuscule compared to Jupiter but it's more than large enough to have an insane amount of kinetic energy more than enough to produce enough heat on impact to reduce the density and significantly increase the fluidity of the Earth.
