National Express East Anglia were also called "One" Railway before the rebrand. And before when Abellio took over that became Greater Anglia then Abellio greater anglia and rebranded back to just "greater anglia". And yes the older trains have been replaced by brand new trains with the Class 720s due to enter service on the West Anglia main line hopefully late this year. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_720

Is it just me or do I feel that national express would have done a better job than greater anglia?

The problem was that 'national express' abandoned the east coast franchise so the goverment had to take over with East Coast Trains. Not surprisingly when this franchise came up again, NXEA didnt get it. Thats if they even wanted it again.
