Sorry about the assembly part being cut out, I apparently didn't click record. :( To anyone that asks me about lubes: I honestly don't know what is good or bad. Try stuff out and see for yourself. I would recommend anything that is primarily silicone based (weight X, any Traxxas, etc.). Have heard of others using Dignitas in the clock and it working out well.

I tried using silk and it actually worked.

getting this clock tomorrow, this will really help with making sure it isn't garbage and is actually usable

Thank you so much for this! I just got this today and it was my first Clock, so I had no idea how to set it up. It was terrible just like you said, but now it's soo much better.

I normally average 7.9 on my magnetic lingao(although I might be getting an original rubiks soon) but on this clock, it was so bad that even after lubing, I was struggling to even get sub 10 solves
@kitstopher_4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, from what I've heard the quality varies greatly from puzzle to puzzle. My times were pretty comparable on the first one I set up to my Angstrom, but the second one I set up was significantly worse, but still useable. Definitely not a clear recommendation if you already own a magnetic clock, but I think it's an easy purchase if you don't own one.

Thanks my dude. I still think my one from Josh is better but still, for 10 bucks and a bot of setting up this is good!

Can I use lubicle speedy
@andrewtan8814 жыл бұрын
Nice tutorial. Are you gonna make one of these for the QiYi clock when you get one?

Does the lube have to be silicone lube? Could I use some cosmic lube from speedcubeshop or lubicle silk?

Not with clock

I mean, these are based on silicone so I think that these would work.

TIFU by disassembling my new Shengshou clock to lube it. When he says it’s infuriating to reassemble this thing, he’s not kidding. Can anyone see any reason not to use a small dot of glue on each end of each spring just to keep the dials from falling off/over long enough to get the puzzle back together?
@OldManAP8 ай бұрын
Update: got it back together. If anyone else has problems with this, my tips are: set the bottom clock face on two books or something to keep the pins from falling over during assembly. Also, tape the edge and center clock dials to the top clock half (on the outside) to hold them, so that you don’t have to try to balance them on the springs. Hope this helps anyone who is having trouble with reassembly.

why don't you use any lube on the actual gears? even the inside of the gears where the spring touches it? I don't see any harm in doing it and it would make the puzzle last longer.
@kitstopher_4 жыл бұрын
Lubing is helpful in places where you want to reduce friction. Friction happens when pieces rub against others while rotating, and relative to the gears, this happens only on the parts that touch the black case. Putting lube on the gears directly is like putting lube on a ketchup bottle and trying to open it. The forces applied on the actual gears are not primarily causing friction, but are what make the puzzle move.

@@kitstopher_ but what about the springs?
@kitstopher_4 жыл бұрын
@@ScotttheCubeGuy yeah, that couldn't hurt either, but I'm skeptical of it helping that much.

how does this compare to the picube v2m in your opinion (if you have it)? edit: the setup version of the shengshou, not out of the box
@kitstopher_4 жыл бұрын
I don't, but I'd imagine that picube is better. Pin locking from unaligned gears on SS is probably worse.

Does 10k work?

It's probably fine too - will be a bit speedier than 50k so be sure to be extremely sparing on the lube!
