One of the most genuine and lovely family's in traditional Irish Music. My uncle did an album with mick years ago but even before mick knew who I was he was extremely friendly. Mick really is one of the greatest piper's who has ever lived and has produced such talent through his children! Thank you for this video! 😊

I second this. Though I’ve never met him, his playing shows that he’s a true great. Listening to his piping is a connection

Great to see that Mick O'Brien has such an accomplished daughter as well as being such a sophisticated piper himself. And some amazing new tunes also. It's a pleasure from beginning to end for anyone who likes traditional music

Huge thanks, audio, video amazing. Wonderful upload! Guinness, Jameson in proximity...it's the best you can do far from home. But this is a lot like home!

Lovely performance by the young woman. The way she plays the violin you'd think it was a celtic instrument. I could listen to her all day and night.

+splortz Pardon me. They're all fiddles to me.....but then, I'm just a poor wee ignorant piper.

I wasn't making a judgement, just an observation. Her playing is stunning.

+Gregor McGregor. lol...actually you are right, even the huge bass is called a bass-fiddle! ;) (pronounced base, of course, although I never could figure why someone didn't fix that one way or t'other!) :D

OMG from 8 to 14 minutes she is totally channeling Tommie Potts, fantastic. And Mick O'Brien, of course, rocks as well.

Just looking at this marvellous upload again. Magnificent. Just to recall as well, it was not only the Beatles that got their start in Germany and many black- and blacklisted artists from the USA but so many of the epic Irish artists and bands, Clannad, Dubliners, Rory Gallagher....

Wonderful father/daughter concert! Should I ever reproduce, I hope to have a child as beautiful and as talented as her (I also might wish to pipe as well as Mick....)

The tune is a Breton one, whose title is "Gwir Vretoned" (True Bretons), the 2nd Breton national anthem.
@armelanhejer16986 жыл бұрын
Right, and it's an old welsh tune too (first ?...) named Rhyfelgyrch Gwyr Harlech (The Men of Harlech's March). Before becoming the 2nd Breton national anthem in the 1st half of the 20th c. with lyrics by Paotr Treoure (and with a melodic couplet added to the old tune, not played in this version), it was known as "Seiziz Gwengamp" (The Siege of Guingamp) and first published in Barzaz Breiz by Th. de La Villemarquée in 1839. This is this old version which is actually played here, better know now with the name "Ton Bale Fañch Menez" after being arranged for bagad (Breton pipe band) by Erwan Roparzh from the singing of late Frañsou (Fañch) Menez, an awful singer originated from Poullaouen in Central Brittany. This tune has really a very intricate story !!!

+Fabrice Willmann The original tune comes from Brittany : it's a well-known march tune played by all bagadous (Breton pipe-bands) during fifties to eighties. Name of the tune is "Gwir Vretoned", Lyrics frm Paotr Taour, music from G. Le Maitre.

If you don't already know, they released an album with Emer Mayock called Tunes from the Goodman Collection in 2015. That recording has a lot of these tunes.
