Was this really an hour? It felt like 20 minutes!

What a pleasant surprise. Got here by a fluke and then thought ick a love fest... but, OK a bit gushy, so much good stuff. It's so funny she works in theatre. I spent the better part of my last 40+ years or so in theatre. That "after the build" is the theatre form of postpartum depression. It is really common in theatre. You spend all your time with a very small group of people for weeks or months and then it's finished and... Everyone heads to the next job. When your on staff (like your guest I was backstage not a performer) there is some continuity and during the season you are generally so hammered that you don't get a lot of time to "reflect" so it's less of a thing. Going freelance as a designer it is really not worth it (if you can afford not to) to do shows you do not believe in. It is soul sucking and really hard to rationalize unless there is a ton of $$$$$ compensating. Theatre basically never has the $$$ but film and advertising sometimes has the $$$ to get you into soul sucking work. I don't really do "cosplay", though I do build costumes and such. Silhouette is what I loved about most of the shows I did. She sets a high bar and does what it takes to get over that bar. I am probably more of the scrappy build/ modify as you go kind of builder but a high bar is still the goal. And even with that "less researched" approach im still 80% planning/ designing/ problem solving and 20% building. There is one of those "quotes" that is out there , but is actually really spot on. "Plan the work, Work the plan". And you hit on something I call "designer syndrome". It's something that most designers have to some extent. There is a rush when you spend a huge amount of time with little sleep to get something done on time. Many folks get addicted, to some extent, to that rush and manage to incorporate some bit of the mad dash to the finish in their projects. I will own that I am not immune from the issue, though I try mightily to fight it. It's often really hard to tell if you are delaying because there is a real problem you need to solve or because you want a rush. Both can be true at the same time so... Great show. As I said I was "oh god it's a gush fest" and then an hour later I was still watching!
