Looking at this review again to remince about . We had the same exact suite at the 11th floor! I know its only a junior suite, but i really liked it. One is spoiled for choice for hotels in bangkok, so i really appreciate rhe fact they the staff makes an effort to create a great experience for guests at the Sheraton Grande.

Oh wow. I must’ve just missed you as I am also here’ shame’ would’ve been nice to have a drink. Yes, I agree on both accounts that you are spoilt for choice and they do make such an effort hence why I always return. I will be posting a few new videos which are for hotels outside of Marriott, but the last video is well worth watching as this is less than half the price of Sheraton and also very good. There is no live music and it’s not quite exactly the same in terms of the staff experience, but there are many positives primarily being around 40% of the price of Sheraton.. the rewards program is also very easy to reach a premium level which gives a significant benefit so worth considering and I know you will watch the video as you have been fantastic in supporting me and I really appreciate it. 🙏😀

I'm down to the properties that I would like to stay in Bangkok...The Athenee & the Sheraton Grande. In your opinion, which one you prefer?

Hey! So, my preferred choice is always SGS (Sheraton Grande, Sukhumvit). Apart from the location, I love the live music from Wednesday to Saturday and I also love the bar downstairs (street level) called Basu! I like it more as it creates a great atmosphere and when I sit at the bar at the Living Room (level 1) I always end up chatting with other guests as well as the staff and with the live music, it makes the evening very enjoyable. But, I do spend more time in the hotel rather than visiting bars outside (been there and done it). I still do go occasionally and I like to visit Soi 22 so SGS is better located. The rooms are pretty equal and both offer butler service and complimentary laundry (2 items of regular washing). Breakfast and staff are amazing at both! The pool is better at Athenee for sure but I’m not much of a pool person! I have recently started running and there is a fantastic park just behind SGS. I normally run at 6:30 am for 1 hour and there are lots of others running and walking too which makes it more fun! I can give you directions if you want - it is an awesome park! The gym is equal but SGS weights room opens at 05:30. I can’t remember if the gym at The Athenee is 24 hours or not. I can find out if you need as I have them on WhatsApp! The Athenee is also tucked away a bit and so it is about an 8 to 10 minute walk to the main road (You’ll come out near Novatel around Soi 0 if that makes sense) from there it would be another 8-10 minutes walk to Soi Nana (Soi 4) for example. But, if you are one who doesn’t spend too much time in the hotel and likes to have a drink with good entertainment (like me) then SGS is the one. But, if you want to make the most of your elite status then The Athenee offer afternoon tea and a small buffet dinner with drinks. SGS also offers a cocktail hour between 6-8pm and more alcoholic options. For example, The Athenee offers Chivas Regal and Jameson for whisky where as SGS will offer those two and Glenlivet (Founders Reserve) and JW Black Label. SGS also give canapes which are not bad along with snacks with your drinks (banana chips, peanuts, tarow sticks and dried coconut pieces. The shower at SGS is awesome too! I now always stay there! I’m always at the bar on level 1! I hope this helps and if you need any more info, feel free to get in touch! Hey mate, love your content. I’m going to BKK soon for ten nights, still thinking about how to split between hotels. I’m Platinum with Bonvoy and also vegan. Right now I plan to stay at the Sheraton Grande first and then switch to The Athenee. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Hey! Both are great choices. SG is more centrally located and I have the F7B Manager & Actor? Details so I can give them a shout before your arrival. Just drop me an email with your name and dates and you will be well looked after. With SG you will get canapés in the evening, it’s not a full dinner. It’s usually two or three different dishes, but very light. But goes well with alcohol 😀. I am, and during the evening cocktails, they serve the Glenlivet, Chivas, Regal, and Johnny Walker, Black label as well as Jamison. If you do email me then I will be able to give you a WhatsApp number for the BUTLER service at The Atheneum. This will also allow you to communicate with them in advance and they are very very good. Just don’t expect an upgrade to a suite! SG plays piano on Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays. They play like music on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday. The singer on Wednesdays and Thursdays is Zoe Who is absolutely amazing. Oh also, I have great live music on Saturday lunchtime and Sunday lunchtime.

Actually, you might also find it easier to communicate directly with the hotel. 2 days before your check-in date you will be able to check in using the mobile app and you can also click on the button “chat with us“ and you can then discuss your dietary requirements. At SG you can ask for Cake, she is the F and be manager. If she’s not available, you can also ask for the new F&B Director Andras. If for any reason, both of those are not to have a level, then you can also ask for Victoria, who is the operations director?.

Hey! Yes I was lucky to get a complimentary upgrade. In fact I have stayed there on another 4 or 5 occasions and I have always got a complimentary upgrade. If you are visiting I highly recommend visiting the living room on the first floor!

I've booked this hotel, so just trying to decide between the JW Marriott and the Athenee Luxury Collection Bangkok. Have you stayed at either?

@@ruudebwoy77 i’ve stayed at both so can give you quite a bit of info if you need. Do you have any dietary requirements? Both have fantastic lounges but if you are a whisky drinker the Athenee gets the edge. The lounge at JW is super busy in the evening also. Athenee also wins in the swimming pool but the gyms are probably equally good. Also elite members get 2 pieces of laundry per night free excluding dry cleaning. Athenee also wins in service and recently the JW are over pricing their rates. JW has the edge on location as you are literally on the main road, seconds away from the BTS and nightlife (if that’s your thing) and restaurants. From Athenee you need to add about 8-10 minutes walk to get to JW. The rooms are similar but again a slight edge to Athenee. Hope this helps! In a few weeks I will be posting a video on Athenee. One more thing, you can also do free yoga or muni Thai boxing classes at Athenee.

@@ruudebwoy77 I focus on the lounge experience, service, quality of the room, flexibility and quality of food, value for money, swimming pool & gym. I love SG but there is no lounge! But the living room gives free cocktails and canapés between 6-8 and I sometimes get away on that due to the heat. Le Méridien just finished a refurbishment and offers everything that I mentioned that I focus on and is probably the cheapest out of the good hotels. They also do two garments of laundry for elite members.. Athenee has a different vibe, more luxurious feel. JW is nice but gets too busy! You probably know from watching my videos that I like a good drink and unfortunately at JW, I am stuck to drinking Jameson which isn’t bad but I prefer chievas regal. I’ve stayed on all of the Marriott properties so if you have any specific questions about any of them, feel free to ask, and I have several videos coming for the hotels, which I’m not yet listed on the channel.
