Two things that I absolutely love is an actor that can cry realistically and also blush. Both things are an incredible turn on for me.

To Jim it's a serious game. Sherly is his soulmate and Jim knows it. Sherlock has written Jim out of his memory and Sherly only occasionally catches a fragment of a memory when he say "dear Jim". When Jim teases Sherly and calls him virgin it's a dig at Mycroft. The obsession started with Mycroft and Jim remembers things that Sherly has buried. Jim wants to love and protect Sherly from his demons even though Jim has enough of his own. They are like doppelganger twins. In many ways alike and some differences and obsessed with each other. They are mirror images of though sometimes it is more like fun house mirrors. It may seem strange but Sherly has a borderline split personality that can happen from the experience or exposure to abuse or trauma. Sherly has built a wall and a mind palace to protect his mind and only some memories but bury the memories that hurt too much. Jim feels the only way to crumble Sherlock's wall is to shock Sherly and make him feel pain and his apparent loss. He told him several times how he was going to do it but all Sherlock would say is "I don't like riddles. "Learn to" was Jim's reply.
