The narration for this documentary is provided by the people who live on the island giving them the opportunity to tell their own stories in their own words. They describe the way of life in the peace and quiet of the island for young and old.
This episode of ‘Pieces of Land’ was directed by Tony Barry and broadcast on 21 June 1976.
‘Pieces of Land’ was a four part series filmed in some well known Irish havens of peace and quiet.

I met a beautiful girl from Sherkin Island in Brussels in 2008. She had a short fuse but was a force to be reckoned with.

They got longer dry spells back then,, which allowed them to harvest dry hay for the winter months..
