The older I get the more I love watching these old Sherlock movies, Rathbone and Bruce are my favorites, I love the way they dress and talk, very proper, even the night time they wear classy clothes. So cool.

When you think that the original film is nearly 80 years on from production and then release it's all the more remarkable that the original film stock survived in good enough condition for the digital wizardry to work its magic on. The audio restoration is remarkable too.

Thank you so much for showing this …..I worked in live Theatre and cinema for over 20 years both in England and Canada and they were great days….But look at the films they make now…….bad language, nudity ….and to many sex scenes…The world I lived in was much better than to-day….

Basil Rathbone was one of the best actors to play Holmes, sharp mind, sharp wit but these are spoilt for me for a bit because of how little Nigel Bruce was given to do. He was a fine character actor, see his role in the Leslie Howard version of the Scarlet Pimpernel, but his version of Dr Watson rarely shows any of the knowledge, experience, and strength of character to be a doctor and to be in the Army at war (Afghanistan). The son of the aforementioned Leslie Howard, Ronald, played an excellent Holmes and HM Crawford was a much more believable Watson. Unfortunately the budget was a fraction of these with Rathbone and Bruce.
