Mycroft dying was the fat one in Sherlock's mind palace. In real life, he's not fat, so he will not die.

They spoke in present tense. I don't know whether it's intentional or that they're even aware of it, but I feel like this season will cement their relationship as siblings. They even corrected the interviewer when he says "loved" to "loves" because it's continuous. Mycroft never really plays a 'big' role for the show, he's omniscient in a sense, that he's the audience in a rationalist point-of-view. Losing Mycroft would do a small ripple in their timeline. It is - afterall - about Sherlock's adventures with Dr. Watson, as the story says. Also, Benedict specifically says that their relationship as siblings is an evolving one. But, that is a possibility.
