I've always liked the story "The Five Orange Pips" because I first knew it from the BBC radio dramatisation with Clive Merrison as Holmes and Michael Williams as Watson. All the stories were dramatised in the 1990s and they're quite wonderful and atmospheric I can heartily recommend them.

As I understand it, they have season 5 mapped out back when they filmed season 4, but it has a lot to do with everyone being available. I think most of the cast are signed for season 5, but again, they all have giant careers outside of Sherlock. I assume they will eventually do another season and then they will end it.

I have to be honest, I've lost hope in a season 5 a couple months after the 4th season came out. Despite not using twitter, I would still check for any news on there about season 5 but after all the hype around the theories disappeared I realized that a season 5 might not be likely, especially now. It has been years and they still have not even planned on creating a new season. Of course we hope but we have to be realistic. I don't think there will be another season :(

I love how Basil Rothbone and Nigal's Sherlock had similar quotes in Moffats Sherlock, I mean basically if you cross reference the two shows you can answer some questions for Moffats. It's genius really.

The reason why there's speculation as to the existence of a third Holmes brother (as far as the books are concerned) is because it's believed by quite a few fans (again, of the books) that the Holmes family is either landed gentry or minor nobility (with an estate). In the Victorian era, the eldest son would remain on the estate, learning how to run things for when he inherited it from his father. He wouldn't have had a career like Mycroft does. So, as the proponents of the third brother theory surmise, there must be an elder brother who remains on the Holmes estate, either preparing for his inheritance or maybe even already having inherited it (if Papa Holmes was deceased).
