Built this right after it came out at Bailey's Hobbies in Pasco,WA. 6-7th grade!! In those years my friends in our apartment complex would do Saturday morning builds starting at 8a.m. n lasting past noon till Bass Masters came on the T.V. n Dad said we were to noisy n to go home!!! Memories...

Academy makes a kit in 1/35. Significantly better quality, but there is absolutely a nostalgic feel with the old monogram kit

It obviously doesn’t compare to what we have today, but Shepard Paine used this very kit to create one of the most realistic diorama‘s ever done. He converted the bogeys into the later style and set it in a battle of the bulge scene being white washed. That diorama still holds its own against anything being created today.

I built this kit decades ago. Even then, I considered it pretty mediocre, compared to the 1/35 Tamiya and Italeri models.

Lance, That may be the case from today's perspective but I don't remember seeing Ital/Tmya offering a Sherman with the rocket launcher. In any event, if you compare prices and you've got more time than money, this kit is less than half the price and that's pretty good in itself. Thanks for sharing! -Doug
