I know we don’t speculate here but husband probably feels/felt extremely guilty because it was his ex. Going through the I should have protected her I could have stopped it type of thought process.

I actually thought the same thing. That maybe that’s why he moved away. That’s why he didn’t make a fuss. Because the cops were not looking into it, and he knew that if the cops weren’t looking into it for the death of his wife would they look into it for him, if he died.. But also the guilt had to have been eating him up. Because Sherry was complaining about the cop, Stephanie, and he didn’t tell Stephanie “leave us alone”. Or be firm with her.

Granted, the following year saw the first case of someone being convicted through DNA but in those days, DNA technology required much larger samples than is required with modern technology. A little saliva from a bite probably wouldn't have been enough to prove it was Stephanie for at least another 10 years.

I do think it was weird the husband just moved away and didn’t follow up. If he would have followed up and said check Stephanie over and over maybe something could have happened sooner. The way he is described he just seems like kind of a quiet go with the flow type of guy. I did read that he was teary describing his murdered wife while he was on the stand.
