This and the other songs on the album were her most interesting moment artistically. She abandoned it in order to pursue commerciality again. Her commercial pop songs were wonderful, but this album moved me more than any other, and after it she declined.

Definitively, 'The Globe Sessions' was a masterpiece. I got this DVD and the whole concert is awesome, but 'Am I getting through?' will always remain as one of my favourites ever. Sheryl was, is and I'm sure will be one of the best rock females in the music world.

I agree. Incredible song, lyrics, and performance. It's like she's in a trance... totally focused and absorbed into the music. Very few performers are capable of this level of intensity. Very few. I think the lyrics give a brutally honest look at her "dark side" here. She seems truly dangerous here. By the way, she was 37 in 1999 when this performance took place.
