The '90s were much more sane than present day and recent years. When we were in high school literally no one was trying to compete against the opposite sex in track & field. Now it's considered bigotry to prevent it. Where are the feminists? They went from "We must smash the patriarchy" to: "We must protect and defend the patriarchy". If you were a tomboy in school, no one recommended having a mastectomy and hormone blockers/replacements. During childhood I cannot recall one teacher talking about their gender pronouns, sexual orientation and political affiliation. How much worse will things become? Something has to give.

Coming from somebody who loves metal, grunge, punk, Eurodance, this has got to be one of my favorite songs
@theiterator92912 жыл бұрын
I mean yeah I'm in a similar boat and I think it comes down to the fact that it has the gritty sludge of grunge, the raw emotion of punk, the dark undertones of a metal song, and still manages to have a danceable vibe.

I will forever remember how one morning back in the mid-90's, I woke up in front of the tube, around 3AM, just as this video began playing and I then saw it for the first time. By the time she got to the first chorus I had maxed the volume (my TV was patched into my stereo) and by the time Sheryl got to the last chorus the top of my head had blown skyward with a little mushroom cloud coming out of the resulting crater. Then I think I had an out-of-body experience!!! }8^D~

@MommaBuckshot9 жыл бұрын
Michelle Marino I hate to say it, but I totally agree. Those that are young now, missed out some of the most meaningful, soulful, and just plain some of the best music ever. Not all of the 90's were great, but damn the soundtrack for it was awesome :) I'll be 30 this year, and I really miss these days. Very good times. Thank goodness for youtube so that you youngins get to enjoy those times too :) Oh and I love that movie Crossroads too hahaha

Michelle Marino When I was a teen (in like 1999) what you just said is exactly how I felt about the 80s lol, so I didn't appreciate those days as much as I should've, but I realize how much good music and just easier/cooler times the 90s actually were. Love Sheryl's early songs too!
@alysa.19999 жыл бұрын
I'm 16 too! And I absolutely agree with you. 90s music is all that I listen to, there's something about it.
@darrellrussell97679 жыл бұрын
Michelle Marino I always thought I was born a decade too late. I loved the music of the 60s, but it was before my time. At different times in my life I thought I was done listening to the music that was current because it just didn't have any real soul or heart, but then there would be a group that I heard that made me realize that there was still good music being made that spoke to me. It's happened all my life. When I just about give up on what's out there along comes some group that just hits me. What I'm saying is that there are great musicians out there. They're always out there. They might be buried beneath the banal and insipid, but they're out there. They're always out there. They just need us to find them. Real musicians care, and they'll always be there to make meaningful music. We just sometimes have to take the time to find them and support them.

This song takes me back to the 90's. Working at a local Wimpy burger bar doing the late shifts and dealing with the numerous drunks that would come in when the clubs shut and start fighting. Every night we'd be dealing with some idiots which usually ended up in a mass brawl. We had a looped tape playing the same list of songs every night for months and happily this was one of the songs on it. More than once in the middle of a huge fight this song played and it all seemed okay.. Crazy days.. I miss them.. lol..

Best weekend of my life was at the NHRA Finals in Ennis Texas 2012. We camped 20 feet away from the stage this local preformed. Went to sleep at 3am and woke up and ran the track at 7am. And the singer was a white man in his 40s and he belted out this tune to perfection and we all drank and partied like there was no tomorrow. My god, times used to be simple❤
