Sheryl is a descant of the Nome family. It’s how she receives her fold quartz earrings, Aimo and gives her a pretty direct connection to the Protoculture. And the Nome sisters and people in their society are said to be Pacific Islanders if I remember correctly (I haven’t seen Zero in a few years.) So more akin to the people of Malaysia or the Philippines; however several notable Macross characters are black like Claudia and Bobby.
