I coached many years of girls/women's HS and NCAA ball. Something is seriously wrong when a whole team picks up and walks off. It means: 1. They don't respect you. You talk but don't walk. 2. They don't trust you. 3. You don't give a damn about them as people. 4. You have no clue on how to discipline and keep kids accountable without destroying their sense of self. 5. You can't teach/coach. You're unclear, inconsistent, and contradictory. I've seen it much worse than this, but the 5 above are usually common denominators. And, contrary to popular opinion, most kids want to be coached hard by someone they trust and respect. So this ain't about soft kids being coached too hard. It's clear that the character issues that led to Swoope's demise as a coach are still present. She ought to seek help.

Don’t fall for the Swoopes all-time great b/s. She was a champion at every level 👍👍, but averaged 15 ppg/4.9 rebs/3.2 asst/43.6% overall FG%/31.6% on threes (many years in the 20%’s). CC is having a better rookie year than EVERY year Swoopes ever had (even her 3 MVP seasons). She had 1 season over 20 ppg/1 season over 4 assts (CC leading the league in her rookie year with more than double that amount). I keep listening to people dig in about Clark (Swoops, Mcnutt, the other person Steven A has on his show), it just doesn't play well. I am 44 years old, grew up watching basketball in the Jordan era. Swoops should have the same wisdom I do about basketball. Jordan changed the game and was great. Kobe and Shaq were awesome, all time great; didn't change the game. Mamba mentality is basically gone, and no one can replicate what shaq was. Lebron was great and changed the game (in a negative way in my opinion) by getting rid of Mamba. Now they all friends, Steph was great and changed the game forever. I see the potential in Clark to change the game, and be great. I know what I am seeing, I didn't know with Jordan and I was told by people like Shaq and Chuck that Curry won't last. IT wasn't till curry's third ring did they change how they talked about him, and it wasn't till the 4th that Shaq said he is one of his all-time greatest and should be in the GOAT conversation. Clark might suck next year, she may be terrible in a few years, or this is the worst version of CC we will see for the next 10 years. IF she gets better and better like A. Wilson did she is going to have the accolades and the records. I don't want to miss the greatness. One final thing for those ladies to think about: there is a stereotype that you can't tell certain individuals they were wrong; ever. It isn't helping that these three stick to I was never wrong about CC, it would be great if they just said I doubted her and was wrong. I don't get this "she's a legend" thing...or even "everything she did for the WNBA." Athletes are legendary for their incredible athletic accomplishments, and they deserve that, big time. But they are legendary as sports figures, not as wonderful, good, or even decent human beings. In that area, they range from the sublime to the criminal, just like the rest of us humans, so I don't get this "they're legends so they can say what they want to" as though they have the right to lie, or otherwise break the usual rules of conduct without being held accountable. A liar, or petty person, or an athlete who commits domestic violence does not get a pass because they have great speed, great court vision or other amazing, beautiful skills. Why should they? And as for what these athletes have done for the WNBA or the NFL or the NBA or any other organization, mostly what they've done was create fame and wealth for themselves and their families, with the benefits to the game being at most, secondary, and probably in many, if not most, cases just a byproduct of their doing what they loved and were great at. It's not like they were giving up cushy jobs to build homes for the poor with Habitat for Humanity, or leaving home and its comforts to dig wells in Africa or -- whether it's Swoopes or Clark-- they're not exactly making huge sacrifices for the WNBA cause, like, say, teachers who live on tiny salaries and buy school supplies with their own money for the cause of education and the futures of their students..

Evil hates facing good because good always shines brighter!!! Who knows why Swoopes couldn't and still can't bring herself to make a public apology. Only she knows!! IMO, a public apology is the ONLY way Swoopes can redeem herself. I'm just not so sure Swoopes wants redemption. But you're absolutely right!! Texting an apology is extremely disingenuous when the lies you told were told in public!!! Swoopes just doesn't seem to know anything about having ANY character at all!!! And to then make those texts public?? All Swoopes accomplished was to show just how hateful and wrong she's been and STILL IS, to criticize Clark!! Swoopes, as they say, "Cut her own nose off to spite her face"!!! And she lost a caring friend, in Nancy Lieberman, in the process!!
