This live performance of "Safe and Sound" is perfection. As a songwriter and performer, to have written one timeless masterpiece is an incredibly rare accomplishment, much less to capture it live in such a moving, powerful, gorgeous atmosphere. Transcendent.

I vividly remember watching this, a little over a week after 9/11. This song, and "Someday We'll Be Free" that Alicia Keys sang, really captured what I think all Americans were feeling at that time. I remember how united we were as a nation at that time, and while I don't wish for another 9/11, I do wish we could return to that sense of unity.

I only started listening to Sheryl Crow album cuts last week cuz I’d heard “Maybe Angels” a few months ago and realized she had more going on than just “Soak Up the Sun” and “Picture” had led me to believe. Anyway, I can’t believe this song is on the same album as “Soak Up the Sun.” If I’d known that back when I was a kid, I’d probly been a Sheryl Crow fan my whole life. The studio version of this song is rock n roll af.
