What does the battle start on these do ? Not found anything online

The battle short is an alarm override switch. It will override any alarm except for low fuel. The Steel Soilders forum has a Technical Manual section. You can find any manuals released to the civilian world there.

That is possible. I'd recommend going to the Steel Soilders forum and make a post in the Generator section. Myself or several other knowledgeable people can help you get it going. You can look for Diesel Addict over there.
