Market Cap would apply in normal situations, What we're witnessing is not normal. When technology became a bigger part of Wallstreet everything changed. I say all that to say AMC & GME can't be measured by technicals. Could it reach 100k? absolutely Will the organizations involved let it reach 100k? That's what I question. Either way this will be biblical!!!!!

The meme stocks aren’t supposed to trade on fundamentals, it’s a compelled purchase play due to leveraged short positions. Will AMC hit 100k, doubtful but it will temporarily have a massively overvalued market cap whatever that will end up being.
@SheTalksFinance3 жыл бұрын
Ya I agree that fundamentals are not driving them... and I don't think another squeeze is impossible... but, I do think people holding for the unlikely targets like 100k (b/c of hope and hype) may end up over-staying their welcome if they don't know how to take profits into another run.

The problem with people saying that a stock can reach some ridiculously high price is that it gives the impression that everyone will be able to sell at that price. Maybe AMC or GME can pump really high but as soon as it does, everyone will try to sell and drive the price down. Even assuming it can go up to $100K, how many people will actually be able to sell at that price? The idea that this could make everyone rich depends on the premise that tens of thousands of investors are willing to diamond hand through massive life changing money. It's like winning the lottery and then spending the money on more lottery tickets hoping to win more.

Yes, it does feel more like a lotto ticket than investing to me...and you're right, the top price of a parabolic move only lasts for a very very short time period.

That's the thing though, most people aren't going to sell at the very top and keep in mind hedge funds have to cover for millions if not billions of shares ( because there's a ridiculous amount of synthetics) so for the most part everyone will get payed as long as they don't sell way to early or wait to long.

From what I can tell they have a pretty bright future. Only downside I can find is their lack of revenue and the CEO likes to poke the bear with hedge funds. I get what your saying about AMC hitting $100k. You're math is off. As an example when GME hit $500 a share(before buying was halted) not every share sold was sold for $500. There would be a minute amount of shares that would hit that spike. Look at any chart for a volatile stock and you can see the high or low is reach for only milliseconds. Suggesting a stock could hold at it's high mark for a length of time so every share could be sold at that mark is ridiculous and shows a lack of knowledge of how the market works.
@SheTalksFinance3 жыл бұрын
Hi David - actually the shares outstanding will still be the same at 100k a share, so the market cap would in fact be that high for that period of time per my math (unless AMC bought back some shares that were outstanding before then). You’re talking about parabolic moves - so the market cap would spike to that level for a very short period of time in a parabolic move, but outstanding shares is what controls the market cap. And yes, people would likely be selling at different levels but market cap would top the level I described if shares ever got to 100k. I also never said it would hold at 100k a share , I am simply speaking on my opinion that I don’t think it’s even possible to hit it at all.

I'm holding AMC since January and I'm still up a sold XXX% on it. For me, this was for the fun and "the meme" only since the beginning, and it's with money I'm totally willing to lose. People who think AMC is going to hit 100k a share and bet the family savings on it are delusional and need some serious help. Do it for fun, but how people risk (and potentially lose) their whole future with this boggles my mind.

As a CPA I always prefer to walk the conversation back. If this stock goes way up, well why would it do that? This whole industry just rips off the ignorant, if I get someone interested enough to put real money down then usually they're interested enough to hear out a brief explanation of stock pricing in a competitive market.
