That was lovely, thanks for putting it together. I think my most favourite clip is when Jimmy and Duncan are at the airport waiting for Cassie and Duncan says about her being pregnant. Jimmy's face and reaction is so lovely! Great actors, great storylines

There are some rather funny[amusing & quaint developments in my village of Monks Eleigh] I keep seeing resemblances of some of the characters from Shetland, i.e Duncan Hunter's wife bears an uncommon likeness to someone up our road for instance and there are plenty more from the series 3/4. Not seen five yet but eagerly waiting.

Duncan's wife looks like the wife of a neighbour of mine. In fact there are a lot of members of my area who bear some resemblance to the characters in Shetland then there are some who secretly or otherwise think my face bears resemblance to Dougie[Jimmy Perez]

I don't think so, Trent, it is just that Fran was Duncan's wife then turned her affections towards Jimmy Perez, divorced Duncan[ who was bit of a womanizer anyway] and married the latter but fictionally, she was murdered. I suggest you read the books to get a bit of better under understanding of the relationship. Because of this, Duncan and Jimmy are both fathers. Some years ago, back in the '90's, there was the UN International Year of the family and I remember my development officer saying to me that the family in years to come would be quite different and this is just one illustrated example. I was and am again, a member of UNA[United Nations Association] which is a member of the WFUNA founded by Erskine Childers, the great grandson of the author of Erskine Childers who amongst many things, was author of The Riddle of the Sands, set just before the 1st World War

What you described was the apparent surface relationship between the two. Regardless of what the book says about those two, I am pretty sure the TV writers quite deliberately attempted to write the relationship in such a way as to make it at least hint towards some gay undercurrent between the two to keep us audience guessing. Why not, any talking point about the show is gd for ratings. And if you wanna talk about new family template, 2 dads and a child point towards what?

Well said. I'd bet my ass that the writers wanted us to feel that "there's something there". What can be juicier that a stoic, immensely strong copper falling even a little bit for a more loquacious and gd looking mature guy. It's Brokaback Mt with a north sea twist :)

I agree, I think Jimmy is a sensitive soul really and it must hurt him as much to accuse Duncan of wrongdoing as the Duncan himself

I love the relationship between Jimmy and Duncan, but I've never thought of it as anything but a deep and caring friendship. I think they do love each other, but not in the romantic sense. It's possible to deeply love someone of the same sex without there being a gay component to it. If there were, it wouldn't bother me at all. I just don't see that in what I've seen so far. By the way, I'm in the US, and they haven't shown Season 4 here yet or put it on Netflix, but I've managed to "find" Season 4 elsewhere--and it's terrific. I absolutely LOVE this show!
