Thank you so much for sharing SSW - I have been to shetland a few years ago but not to SSW. It´s so beautiful there as you said. I really want to go back there once!

Oh my goodness such a wonderful episode. I have discovered this podcast and absolutely love Andrew, Andrea and the way they have organized the program. Very entertaining and love to see the chemistry between both of you! I could listen to Hazel talk forever just love that accent! You have the best podcast I have ever seen! I am watching all of them from the first and bookmarking my faves. I hope to visit all of these beautiful places someday and the dream would be to retire somewhere there. Even my husband had to lean over and take a look and a listen to this episode! Thank you for such a wonderful and entertaining podcast! I am absolutely addicted! I have joined as a patron as it is totally worth it to express gratitude for all the hard work that you can tell is put into producing this wonderful and informative podcast series. I cannot wait to watch the next one!

What a gift your programming is. Your filming is world class. When the Shetland woman was talking about the weather and the colors of Shetland, I so appreciated your beautiful, well thought out footage. Thank you. From a long time fan.

I wept during Elaine Nicolson's segment: my mother passed recently in May, and I saw dementia taking hold in the months before. Elaine's explanation about the knitted textile she created from her mother's hap design is beyond poignant and the textile is spectacular...thank you, Andrea, for providing such an avenue for me to grieve properly; and thank you, Elaine, for inspired textiles with personal stories!

Andrea, I was amused to see you feeling insecure about being seen as an accomplished knitter! You need not have any fear of that, you are an inspiration. I have always been a “good enough” knitter, often not bothering to go back and fix mistakes. You have modelled such quality, it is prompting me to be more willing to go back and do-over sometimes. Thanks again for a great show, I’m looking forward to the rest of the SWW episodes. I had seriously considered going this year and decided against, but this has got me thinking I might....

What a fantastic podcast! Thanks for bringing the Shetland experience to those of us who didn’t attend for whatever reason! I’ve downloaded the pattern for the mitts (thanks for the discount code) and ordered the wool already! I’m thinking presents for my daughters - they’re beautiful. The ladies you interviewed all seem so gentle and lovely - not to mention skilful, I am in awe. Great episode Andrea and Andrew 👍

Many, many thanks yet again for your amazing podcast. We all gain so much when we watch your podcasts whether through inspiration, instruction, tips and techniques, the sharing of the love of knitting, getting to know the wonderful world of knitting and knitters. It is through podcasts like yours that spread the joys of knitting that the world of knitting is growing - more yarns and patterns available, more instructive videos etc etc. You have around 26,000 subscribers, wow, but only 1,921 patrons, so disappointing.... I really hope that more of your subscribers appreciate the work involved and understand the influential impact you are having and take the next step and become patrons to support your work. Again, many thanks.

I'm not from Shetland, but the sound of a knitting machine was very much part of my childhood in the 1970s. My Mum made many 's school jumpers, striped tank tops and cricket jumpers for "pin" money. For me it is a happy sound. Xxx

Fantastic program. I became interested in Shetland when I saw your earlier episode with Wilma and Terri Malcolmson. Because of that, I was able to take an online class with her from Maryland. USA. She is a bright light and has many generations of Fair Isle knitting in her blood. I absolutely love her designs on her Terrilaura website and I am so happy you were able to highlight Terri. Hazel is so talented but through your segment I was able to see how much fun she is as well! I thought it was nice to see how you incorporated modern textile arts as well. The fabric based on dementia ad Alzheimers was especially poignant since I know many people with loved ones fighting that memory stealing disease.

It was SO lovely to hear Elisabeth Johnsons speech again, having heard it on WoolWeekWellcome. I tried to explain my family about her calm voice and kind of understated humour, but of course I couldn't. And now 35 minutes into this episode, I'm just happy seeing it all again. Simple as that. Happy and longing to be back.

So wonderful to see ep 63... thank you! Shetland Wool Week is definitely on my bucket list. I have just signed up as a Patron... please don't ever stop doing what you both do so well. It has been so good to follow you on your knitting/sewing journeys, and to hear your Aussie voices. I live in Wangaratta North now, and know Albury (and Bright) very well, having lived in NE Victoria for over 40 years. You mentioned the classic old haberdashery store in Albury in one of your early episodes... it was Abikhairs. They always seemed to have old-style corsets in the window at the front door... the sort my grandmother used to wear. I have been knitting and sewing since I was six, crocheting since my late teens, and spinning since mid-twenties. What a joy to discover so many new skills and techniques to learn, now that I have retired from teaching.... love it! I am also on Instagram, as annagrace49; not many photographs yet, but I plan on putting my past and present projects on there. Thank you so much, Andrea and Andrew, for such informative and inspiring podcasts... you are feeding my crafty addictions. Bests... Jillian D

Hi Jillian, that's very cool that you also remember Abikhaurs. It was a fascinating shop for a young girl. It also had a very particular smell. I performed at a lot of music eisteddfods as a child in Wangaratta, so I know it well.

Beautiful episode, I loved it, I hope to one day travel those islands, because although we could say that there was once a horrible war between Argentina and Great Britain, many islands of the south Atlantic are so similar. The very south of the Argentine Patagonia is so similar to those places, but there is something that they do not have and those wonderful fabrics the fairisle, and that is why I would like to one day learn those techniques and then teach them here. I learned a lot from you, Andrea, and from your interviews. I never miss an episode, while I drink a glass of beer or rather a glass of Malbec enjoying its beautiful podcast, thank you very much

Love the depth you describe in all aspects of yarn, culture and knitting. Great filming as well. Have the Shetlands always been treeless? Love Faye’s attitude and her students work is stunning. Love the work Elaine , the fade in the pattern, did in honour of her Mum and heritage. Tina’s hat and mits were gorgeous and Terry’s approach to design is brilliant. Loved Hazels scarf/ shawl. That would be lovely to wear.

Living by the sea. Ahh, the beauty, the wind, the Salt. Having lived by the sea for 15 years let me let you in on a secret that nobody talks about. The salt. It rusts everything literally right before your eyes. It permeates everything. Your furniture is forever sticky feeling, your floors are slippery. House maintenance is triple what it would normally be because everything decays and rusts so fast. Just something else to think about.
