Once upon a time I was an Intern at the production company that was producing Lawless. I had to deliver a script to the producer's house because Shia was going to be over there later on and they were going to read through it. I brought it over and Shia was already there, early, he saw me outside the house down by the street getting out of my car and he stopped me, he goes, "Hey I have seen you around a lot, let me introduce myself, I'm Shia." and we talked for a minute he asked me about myself and was super friendly. Whole thing lasted 2 minutes but it stuck with me for a long time. Not because I was star struck or anything like that, but because of how nice of a guy he was when he didn't have to be. Awesome dude. Great guy.

As a recovering alcoholic and a victim of PTSD I can safely say this movie brought to light what its like growing up with bipolar, divorced parents and what that really does to a kid and how we carry that with us into adulthood often unwittingly. That scene where the Father gave him a cig and told him to smoke it in the bathroom resonates and being the telephone intermediary between fights every weekend. This man has done a great service opening up like that. Thank you.

People don’t realize how awful ptsd is and think it’s only for those in war. But you can get ptsd with abuse especially at a young age. Shia LaBeouf was spiraling out of control and was crying for help. He was lucky he didn’t die because he was losing all control and was barreling towards destruction. The reason you know he genuinely had issues - is that he would show up on set to his films and was extremely professional and normal. But it was only when he wasn’t distracted with his work that he would get loaded on drugs and become angry. So he was a kind person 90% of the time, but when he was left alone to his own thoughts he would turn to drugs which then caused him to fall apart. The fact that he owned up to his mistakes and has even become friends with the police officer - shows that he just needed help. I know it’s easy to throw a rich person under the bus since we all have hard lives and wish we could have that money. But at the end of the day - he was still a child when he was abused. Regardless if he went on to become famous and earn a lot of money - he was a child like all of us were at one point, and no child deserves to be abused. I hope he continues to stay on this path. Continues to get the help he needs for his trauma.
@anastasiabeaverhausen.
@anastasiabeaverhausen. 4 жыл бұрын
He used the drugs to cope with his trauma. I honestly believe he never had a childhood and at the same time never grew up. IT'S NOT HIS FAULT. But now he is reparenting himself and healing his PTSD in a healthy way.

The weird thing is I see more compassion towards him than the women he abused, just because he made a movie about his struggles. Everyone suffers, the difference between him and other suffering people is that others actually want to go to therapy, while he just wants people to forgive him.

I waited on him when he filmed Indiana Jones on the Big Island of Hawaii. He only had a cheese pizza, but his entourage (mom too) had the most expensive meals, and bottles of wine. He paid for a crazy expensive check, when all he had was a $9.99 pizza. It really seamed like he was being taken advantage of... he was the only one at the table who was respectful and humble. I didn't even know who he was at the time, there were coworkers who had to tell me who he was. I have nothing but respect for the dude.

Kalas82 I never stopped liking him. We have to realize good people go through life and tough stuff. We see them as celebrities and think their lives are just what we are allowed to see but behind the scenes before they were famous they dealt with life and craziness just like USA they just happened to get famous. But they bleed, have mental issues, need money, can’t pay rent... he is the same guy who had troubles and due to who he is he could afford to have time to step away and get himself together. I’m glad you can see past his troubles though. Someone people just wrote people off.
