explaining NCT's unit system once and for all

Hello ! Just wanted to say that I edited this video like a month ago, so I wanted to correct a few things. - On 10th May 2023 Lucas was removed from NCT (and WAYV), making WAYV a fixed unit consisting of 6 members. I hope this won't confuse anyone. He was on hiatus for 2 years, so the only thing that changed is that he was removed from the group. Now NCT are 22 and WAYV are 6. - On 24th May 2023 Sungchan and Shotaro were removed from NCT. Today, NCT are 20 members in total (NCT 127 = 9. NCT DREAM = 7. WAYV = 6) (PS: Haechan and Mark are both in NCT 127, and NCT DREAM) Also I don’t want ppl to cry ab members' departures under my video... I already deleted a few comments and I will delete any other comment ab Lucas, Shotaro and Sungchan. This video is 100% informative so I don’t want it to become a video about gossip/speculations/crying ab them etc.

It is kind of ironic and funny how an unit that supposed to be separated and implement graduation system is the only NCT unit that still having the same lineup since debut until now lol

Considering the sheer amount of members, and all the moving around, it makes sense that people are confused, including me. This is like my 1st look at NCT, I think this vid makes sense. Its just *such* a weird concept. I'm glad they went back on the whole 'graduation' thing for Dream, seems like those never work.

okay I think I understand…. It’s just so different than every other group ever. I always thought nct 127, dream, wayv were different group completely, so when I found out that they’re “subunits” I was shocked with confusion. Especially with mark being in 127 and dream…. that’s confusing too. Thanks for the simple video haha, you made it make more sense.

Sooo, why is WayV the only unit who doesn't have NCT in their name? I've heard of theme before this but never realized they where part of NCT

i’m pretty sure it’s because of china and korea’s conflict and marketing issues and all that. i’m not exactly sure how it all works (someone can back me up and explain that) but due to this conflict, wayv cannot have “nct” in their name (which kinda sucks because like you, many people don’t realise wayv is a part of nct but we can’t really do much about it)

WAYV are under SM Ent and also under Label V (which is an SM's sub-label based in China made only for WAYV to focus better on them). The reason why WAYV is the only unit with a different name is because of controversies between China and Korea. If I'm not mistaken the use of Korean language in documents is banned in China, so they had to give WAYV a chinese name to avoid any problem. In fact WAYV was supposed to be called NCT V / NCT Vision.

Huh yeah, now finishing the vid its such a weird concept. Even weirder now that they might be stopping at just Korea, China & Japan. I can understand why tho, the og idea was super ambitious & seeing how long it took just to get 3 countries I can't imagine the label would be interested in continuing for who knows how long. I liked the vid, NCT as a group is just so... Well weird.

Me too. With the whole kpop scene aiming for globalization of the group, SM did the otherwise with localization. I can see it is work initially but then SM doing lot of choices that pretty much cross the borderline of the country the unit based like making 127 promoting all out in US since 2018-2019 and not going all out to promote WayV in China in 2019 + hit by pandemic too making them in the weird zone

Your names pronunciation are not good. NCT will no longer add more members, So will be limited to 25 members (adding 3 rookies) when the NCT Tokyo debut. Also, the correct way to say NCT 127 is by the numbers one two seven. Also, WayV is pronounced separately Way + V.. Lee ,ex ceo, no longer is part of SM 😢

I am not the one speaking in the video, it's a robotic voice app. I said that NCT will no longer add members at around 11:51. Again, the robotic voice app could not pronounce Wayv lol. I know Lee Sooman is not the ceo, but I quoted his words because it was written in the websites I used as a source.
