I have to say that brought back memories I have a season there in 1969 sailing “Columbia”my shields U.S. Navy one. As a sailing instructor at the Naval Station, I had access to a Shields every weekend for one summer. And of course the Candy store every night.! Great competition great sailors ,great social life, the only way to go through the Navy. Trading tacks With Shaun Cassidy and other newporters I was just the best

I sailed in this fleet 25 years ago. Thanks for a great video. Love the music. It fits totally with the frenesy, the adrenalin surge of a mark rounding in a tight race.

The Shields were my favorite boats to sail back in college. We're talking late 70's. Orange Coast College Sailing Center in Newport Beach.

How big is the Galley, Head and Salon...tacking at 4 kts then setting the chute...to hit 5 kts is harrowing

156, and a couple others, did a nice backwinding move on their change to starboard tack. Tho a few of the pack seemed a little over anxious by tacking too often.

How did 217 pull that off? I wonder if that boat on starboard protested as it seemed they may have fallen off and then pointed higher just as 217 made that move.

My three favorite boats, yet I've never gotten a chance to sail any of them. 470, Soling and Yngling were my main ones, mostly 470.
