I only wish that the retracted canvas didn't look clumsy. Since this a manually operated foldable top, they need to provide a canvas bag into which the whole thing would collapse and get buttoned or zipped so that it will look cleaner. One can find it in vintage convertibles. It will also cause considerably less noise caused by flapping collapsed canvas. I only wish the LX Petrol with CT had a manual version too. Hope M&M will do something about it. That is my interest. Will lower the price too while it will make driving engaging. Somehow I don't prefer the automatic.

R Sridhar absolutely right. Those old convertibles like the MG T5 of the 40’s and even the Alfa Romeo Giulietta of the 1960’s and other such cars had a simple manual convertible top which could be neatly stowed behind the seats in a compartment and zipped up like a tonneau cover. Looks nice and neat.

What i wish for most is a rear view camera. It will be the biggest complaint of owners down the line, they might never say it out loud as they know what they signed up for but if u ask them if it bothers their comfort then the answer will be yes. Also arm rests for all the seats and a larger screen for the infotainment system as there clearly is space for some enlightenment.

Actually, you're partially right, because, in order to stop noises coming from the flapped canvas, Mahindra has provided the Thar with straps at the rear to tie them.

I really feel that due to this low boot space and obvious security issues, because not only valuables can get stolen but anyone can open the rear windshield and get inside and maybe even steal the car itself, these reasons make me go towards the hard top as it can get a roof rack but I really like the convertible version, any idea if Mahindra are planning on a extended boot and more secure version of the convertible thar??

If you have a family to drive around with, and especially old folks, then the Creta makes more sense. But if that is not the case, then you can surely drive both the cars back to back and make a decision.

If you will drive less and drive primarily in the city, then Petrol AT. If you’ll drive a lot and includes city + highway runs, then diesel AT. If off-roading is primary purpose, then manual.

Another thing is that they shoud gave the zip from inside in the rare seat windows because if you leave your car somewhere any one can open the rare windows from outside and climb in at your cabin.

"YES" u can, as stated in few other review videos.. but then company will not guarantee for any water leakage incase it happens. Also, the process of removing hardtop will not be this easy and will be time-consuming but yes it can be removed.

Well, if you can clearly hear me talk with the roof down, that’s a decent reference? Nevertheless, the wind noise in the cabin is lower than before. With the soft top in place, you do get to hear the wind noise if driven fast, no denying it.

Hi . Thank you very much for the excellent review. I booked LX Diesel Automatic Soft Top retractable . Price is high 17.3 on road in Bangalore . Expected less than 15 on road. Only the challenge is Rain water leaking after multiple use . Can you try with water jet . Can we open and keep only the first half, so that we don’t need to remove the side glass / plastics. Is company gives an guarantee on this . After few years if we have to make Hard Top , it will cost around 1.5 lakhs . I love open Thar. Great review keep doing it.
