Shill bidding accounts in China are OUT OF CONTROL

Shill bidding with multiple accounts in China is outrageously blatant. I show how sellers out of China sell the same card on two different websites at the same time and shill bid them simultaneously...and then do it again and again.

It’s also possible that none of these sellers actually have the card in their possession. I’ve seen multiple examples where they list cards they don’t own by stealing photos from a listing by someone that actually possesses the card often on a different platform. They sell it to you for a much higher price than it’s listed for on the other, lesser known platform and then buy it from that seller and give that seller your address. Basically drop shipping for sports cards. I found this out a few years ago. I bought a card that was supposedly from a seller in the Philippines. I got the card and it included all of this sales information and shipping address for a hobby shop that was in Japan. I looked up the card on the Japanese site and it was basically half of what I had paid. The Filipino seller just bought the card from Japan and shipped it to me when I purchased it from him.

The fact that all the auctions on Card Hobby do not overlap suggest that they are the same person or it’s at least coordinated between multiple people

Terapeak research on Ebay shows no sales of the 1/10 BGS 10 slab. 130 point site shows the first 4 sales being THE 1/10 BGS 10 slab ending April 8th, May 12th, 18th and 24th. Thought 130 point only listed completed sales transactions but maybe not.

If they never actually sell or even possess that card, is the idea behind the shilling to establish high comps for the card? How does that benefit them, if they don't have such cards to sell for real? Also, would not repeated, rapid-fire cancellations due to nonpayment raise red flags at eBay?

I believe they actually have the card. I do not believe there is a legitimate department with real people at eBay looking into shill bidding.

@@simon466cards 1st comment was almost same as the Terapeak comment. I had added that I was suspicious of counterfeiting the card and slab since China is well known for that.

I don’t think PWCC has a bigger shill bidding problem now than any other auction house. That might have been an issue before, but I don’t think it is any different than any other place now.
