Yeah or just fueling class disparities. "Look the rich people are bad, I'm sure that it won't backfire to make them your enemies!" "Look, X country that's the bad guy of the week is in this and this very topical policy prescription is being played out in a very favorable way on screen. If I see a buzzfeed article confirming my knuckledragging bias, I'm in!" "Look, classism against x is justified to somehow stop classism. Somehow. Fair enough." Hollywood at this point isn't just cynical copycats, they're proactively divisive. And enough people exist out there to say, "Yeah, but it's okay, because I actually agree with this brand of divisiveness."

Social liberalism is just the latest window dressing for US imperialism. The overall messaging remains that US military force is always righteous and the US is the exceptional shining city on the hill, here to save the rest of the world from themselves. And saving non Americans normally means blowing them up with futuristic military tech. Because any character who refuses to accept the hegemony of US force can only be redeemed in death. It is the same old psychopathic propaganda but with gender and ethnic diversity. In fact it’s probably worse as the US military has final say on all scripts where the military are depicted since 9/11. Including sci-fi.
@BMoser-bv6kn3 жыл бұрын
@@jeromyperez5532 All politics is class warfare my dude. It's literally a fight over what we're going to do with our treasure. We could have given ourselves healthcare and invested research into things like thorium reactors or curing aging, but we decided to give defense contractors a few trillion instead. What else did we accomplish in Afghanistan, besides killing people and making their lives worse? The liberalism isn't "divisive". It's a balm for liberals to pretend to themselves they're the "good guys" while being complicit and profiting off all the misery in society. Just like how Fox News tells its peeps they know what's best, it's all just a church telling people they're great, things are fine, go back to sleep. If we cared about homeless people, we'd just provide them housing. But they serve a useful function of scaring the shit out of others to make sure they stay in jobs they hate. If you look at everything in society through the lens of "how does this help shareholders/landlords/bankers" everything that seemed stupid at first glance, makes absolute perfect sense. Every single time. There's two ways to have anything change: either scare the crap out of our overlords so they give a little (your "divisiveness"), or REPLACE them. Everything else is to be all-in on the blood-gurgling sociopathy. Cosby is free and Assange is in a torture chamber. That's all you need to know about how great humans are.

I used to love films. I was _known_ for loving films among family and friends. I mean, I still do. They're just very rarely anything new. I think the last film I actually enjoyed was The Favourite..? Before that, I would need more time than I care to give to remember chronologically... I _very_ rarely have use for rental services like VUDU and use streaming services more for TV series, documentaries or older films. I used to be really angry about this, but everyone else seems to love their repetitive 35 film franchise superhero movie diet. So, I've just gotten way more into books than I previously had been. Luckily, I still have an imagination even though Hollywood doesn't. I LOVE the Being There and Kubrick references, btw! EDIT: Oh, I liked Mank! There.
