SHIMANAMI KAIDO | Japan's Scenic Cycling Route | 80km over 2-days | August 2022

We are very average cyclists and decided to attempt the Shimanami Kaido cycling route. It was DIFFICULT for sure even though we split it up into 2-days. Voted as one of the most beautiful bicycle routes in the world, this is a MUST DO if you have the time and energy. Enjoy!

Recently completed this ride myself in one day. Fortunately did not experience any cramping and had an overcast day to work with. Loved the video as it brought back great memories and sites along the way. I too sat on that same "lemon" bench in the heart of lemon growing country. The last time I rode any distance like this was back in college in the early 80's while riding around Lake Washington in the Seattle area.

A patch kit and pump and a couple of liters of electrolytes and you will be fine. Bikepacking gets me every time for the first couple of days. Heavy load, dirt trails and steep climbs in the heat. I feel your pain!!!
