Used my e7 for 6 years straight, inshore , beatup from redfish after redfish, also pitched heavy ass tungsten weights and t rigs in freshwater, recently reconditioned the reel, replaced every steel bearing and bushing in the reel for ceramic ones, carbon fiber handle, carbontex drag and a gear swap to a 5.0:1 ratio, now its my go to cranking reel.

This is still one of my best casting reels. Slayed 7-10 Florida bass with this thing.

I fish the scorpion xt 1000...basically the small format, jdm version of this reel. I can’t say enough good about it. It’s a tank little reel that bombs with almost no effort. I was cleaning/respooling it the other day and came to two realizations. First of all, I hadn’t changed the brake settings in so long that I forgot how many brake shoes I had on. Secondly, I don’t remember ever backlashing it on the water. The rest of my reels, I can look at each and remember a significant backlash that ended or almost ended its day on the water. Looking at the scorpion xt, I don’t remember ever having one of those incidents. I’m sure I have but they’re so rare, that I can’t even recall one. The best part is....you can get these things on eBay for around $100....$100! A made in Japan, jdm version of one of the greatest reels of all time. If it’s green, $250....if it’s red, $100. It’s one of the best kept, open secrets in bass fishing.

I just bought this reel brand new from a seller that put line on it but never used it. It is such a great reel and a classic. Best part it’s the last Curado made in Japan
@sgtcaco4 жыл бұрын
Well technically yes but after that,the next year they painted it black and white,put a cheap looking handle on it and called it a chronarch, it’s actually the exact same reel made in Japan and the Curados were made in Malaysia or Korea, one of the two. The Curado DSV are amazing as well.
@editorodriguez65544 жыл бұрын
Sgtcaco yeah i know they used the same body for the chronarch but curado name wise it was the last one made in japan. I do think they should have kept the green color everyone loved it and it was synonymous with the curado line.

@@editorodriguez6554 I still have 2 of them but I prefer the dsv colour scheme and the tranx. If you ever want the best small bait caster ever made, the stile 100pg beats them all. I still have my old dsv 300 and it’s hard to beat and the tranx 400 and 500 are also very good reels.

@@sgtcaco Well I have this curado that I just got and I love it. I also have the Shimano Calcutta Conquest 100 which is the best Shimano reel I ever used. I have had the Shimano Metanium both first gen and second which were great reels but nothing have tome close to the way the Calcutta conquest feels.

@@editorodriguez6554 interesting I never used the cal con, I was always strictly Curado untill they started making them in Japan. All my green E models have ceramic bearing ,I have looked after them very well and they are a fantastic reel. I don’t like the new ones at all.I would love to have an alderberan, them and the stile have a superior line guide in my opinion.

I have around 20 of these e series. Most of the 50s but a few 200s. They are simply bullet proof. No matter what type of fishing I’m doing, I always have a couple rigged up in the boat.

I've had it a month or so now. Definitely a tough reel. Had it rigged up for belly weighted 4 inch swimbaits. Casts like a dream

How do you adjust the brakes on this reel?, i just bought same one used.......cant figure out what or how the pins get adjusted on brakes.......TIA
@HazyBaits3 жыл бұрын
When you take the side plate off there's 5 or 6 pins and you can push the plastic on those pins into up or down position. That's the brakes. Up, more brakes, down, less breaks. I think if you do every other one up it's a good moderate breaking.

As good as the curado e reels are the jdm xt 1500 is better imo. I've been buying every good condition scorpion I can find. The alderbaran mg is also an awesome reel.

Best bet is look up shimano scorpion 1501xt on Ebay. You can get them for around $110. Same as this curado 201e7 but much cooler looking.
