For normal purpose 3x is good but if you are into Mountain trail riding or reckless riding then you may go for 1x cause thats gonna be more easy to use and also thats better

It depends. You might have to look up your wheelset name to know more about the hub. It all depends on the hub honestly. It depends on the crankset and bottom bracket if you have to replace a crank or even bottom bracket before changing to 1x

Hello, . I planning to do the same convertion you did. I see you used a M6000 sgs (long cage) rear derailleur. Does it work well with the 42 tooth cassette? Because in the shimano tec specs declares the max capacity of the sgs to 36 tooth. And the match for the 42 tooth casette acording to the shimano site is the M6000 sg (medium cage) Derailleur. I dont know wich one i should get. Thanks!

In your case,you have a freewheel. You need to change the hub first to a cassette hub,after which you can swap out your drivetrain for something better.
