Shimano DX M650 Rear derailleur: restore service clean dissembled

+1 to your first commenter. The Deore DX (650) has been my favorite Shimano group for what seems like decades...3 decades actually! It was the perfect storm of form and function, taking aesthetic cues from great 70's/80's deraillers and an absolutely indestructible design. When the apocalypse comes and the nuclear fallout has settled the only thing that will be left are cockroaches and Deore Dx deraillers! Seriously, I've put them on every bike I've owned in the last 30 years whether it was a mountain bike, a hybrid, or a touring bike up to 8 speed, including my Rivendell Atlantis. I used to pick up gently used ones on ebay in the early 2000's for less than 20 bucks.

A great group set, M650, perhaps the most overbuilt group set ever made, certainly the most overbuilt from that era. Bomb proof with all the efficient functionality of XT M730/732 with only a little more weight for a fraction of the price. my go to group set for touring and commuting.
