Omg I cant believe you took off the best part of the reel!!!. You reel it backwards and it will lock and you just grab the strings and the trigger at the same time and cast. It's the best part man!!!

i was gifted the spirex 4000 RG it has the quick fire, idk what that means or what that does. i have no idea what the little switch does on the back of the real, you can turn to left or right or the knob at the bottom. explain?

Rollex Maximus I answered your question about the switch. But the quick fire allows you to cast one handed. As your casting? Flip that lever and it opens your bale.

@@7LamarOdom the rg is rear drag adjustment. the tab allow you set a range on drag to so you will quickly know how much you wanting tighten up and or losing up the drag with out having to over tight or too loose on the drag at a glance. that predetermined sweet spot if you will.

I just purchased this reel BECAUSE it has the quick trigger haha. Been using Shimano for years because of that feature, grew up with it. Tried reels without the trigger and that seem foreign to me. Interesting to hear the opposite opinion though. Thanks for the video

Rollex Maximus the tab by the bail thus the quick fire you pull on it and it opens the bail so you only need one hand to cast. It takes some getting used to but once you do you will like it.The lever at the rear is a quick line tension. Get the user manual on line and learn the reel or find a video here that explains it. I think there is a hot chick a blonde who reviews one . She fishes Bass

I'm getting back to fishing after a 30-year hiatus, working. My ultralight reel from way back has a tendency to let the line go to the rear, so I can tell it was a design that didn't go through much R&D. But these days, they should have ironed out all the issues of tiny ultralight reels. But yeah, thanks for reviewing this reel. I might just pick one up.

Ditto Mine from the 2000's lasted 20 years. Probably would have lasted longer if I bothered to do routine maintenance.

The little switch on the bottom is a reverse or anti reverse switch. It lets you reel in reverse and let line out. Or turn it off so that you can’t reel in reverse. The only reason I use it is to set the line length when I’m ready to make another cast. Make sure you flip it back or you’ll risk a missed hook set.

Spirex is hands down the worst fishing reel I have ever bought. I refuse to even use it. $60-$70 for a reel that is very heavy, and way too sluggish. The handle is way too heavy plus no instant anti-reverse. I bought the front drag version and received the rear drag model and should have returned immediately. One of the worst rated reels Shimano has.

The reason it doesn't have instant anti reverse is for the trigger to line up and you lucked out getting the rear drag

It does seem heavy likely due to high gear ratio
