Beautiful and awesome reels. Just picked up a 2500 and a 4000. 4000 for surf and jetty the 2500 for fresh water bass. The drag on these reels and how light they are is incredible.

It was going toe to toe with a big one at the jetty but the mono leader gave out.

Make sure they fit your reel. I was lucky enough to have a reel with a direct fitment of the knob.

Daiwa Procyon AL is suppose to be a competitor for shimano stradic FL with a reverse switch. Heavier than vanford but much more solid if you can’t find a stradic fl.

That’s the only downside to these new reels that are so light is they really don’t balance well on rods that arent ultra high end

popping cork I would have gone with a Medium Heavy Fast Action. 7' That's a beautiful set up. I still like the Stradic FL over this particular reel but I know you throw a lot of light weight and fuzzy baits. Will be fun to see how it does for you.

How heavy of a fish do you think the 5000 could handle before you start to know you don’t have a aluminum reel? I have the FL in 3000 and want to get a vanford 5000 for when I go out on the charter boats.

Vanford owners that have not/do not not put these reels on a Shimano Zodias or Poison Adrena rod are missing the boat. You guys that have done this know what I am talking about.

if you haven't tried one on a Shimano Expride, Give it a try. Sweet setup with a 3000 Vanford. Also put a 3000 on a NRX + 7' 3" medium jwr and perfection

I have 2 3000 Van's they are awesome! Super smooth and wasn't sure I'd be able to see difference between myCi4+ but it is noticeable!!
