As someone who skateboarded for 6 years long ago, watching 100s of skate vids over time, it is very interesting to now watch a modern street bmx vid for the first time. The only bmx vids I ever watched before just now were 1980s flatland stuff with just a little street involved. Probably the most interesting thing for me in watching this was seeing how skateboards compare to bmx in the way a spot can be hit. Wall riding is far more capable on a bike for obvious reasons of big rubber tires and handle bars to pull away from the wall with. I always imagined that bmx was far more limited, but now I see that sure there are limitations but there are also many possibilities available to bmx which are definitely not available to skating. A good example is the spot at 3:21. The only way a skater is getting UP that ledge like that is with a ramp, and its unlikely to follow up with a grind on the peak of the ledge. Really cool to see trick spots open up like that due to what the bike offers in possibilities. It is clear that a bunny hop on a bike can get you fairly higher up in the air than an ollie. Not only that, the left/right direction shifting is far wider for the biker. The bike can be pulled way over in either direction compared to the board. A good example is the last grind at 13:30. You might be able to get a board up there on the the rail with you (maybe), but you're not getting it back down to that sidewalk with you. Its too far out. So yeah, just wanted to explain how interesting its been to see what bikers can do these days vs skaters. I still prefer skating, but bikes are great too.
