It's much easier to put the throttle cable on the carbs when the carbs are off the bike so I usually put the valve cover on first then cables on carbs and then carbs on the bike. I just adjusted valves and cleaned carbs on one of my zx11s yesterday. The magnet is great for removing shims. I've tried different methods of installing. The magnet is a bit strong and it makes it difficult to position the new shim. I found that magnetizing a small flat head screwdriver works well to hold the shim and move it around until it seats. Another method I tried this time was adhering the shim to the end of a piece of masking tape, putting it in place and pressing down with a small screwdriver. Once in place release the tape. Less chance of dropping the shim, but you can find it with the magnet if you drop it.

Really enjoying this series. My vote that does not matter is to keep the bike stock (as stock as it currently is) when you get it all buttoned up. They aren’t as common as bandits and it is just a cool classic as it is.

I like you're thinking matey... its gonna be mint once it sees the road again, capable if a little dated to look at, but I reckon I'll have some fun on this one 😁👍 Thanks for watching matey 👍

Hiya matey. I must admit for a bus of a thing its starting to grow on me. Dead easy to work on and what was cutting edge in 1990 seems really simple now 🤣😂 Thanks for watching dude 😁👍

@@QuickBikes they are big old buses, but they make you want to ride fast everywhere, thats the problem. There are faster bikes now but to me the old girl is stupidly quick, it makes me question my own stupidity when I give it the beans.

It might be getting chopped up at some point, I've not ruled it out, but doubt I'll need more power for the road 😁

I noticed a couple of aluminum washers on my oil cooler. I think I should change out to copper for a better seal. I think I will start to disconnect and drain the oil cooler every other oil change since it doesn't get drained during a normal oil change. No wonder my oil is black immediately after I put new oil in it.

The aluminium washers on this bike literally crumbled... they were all very brittle, but then again they're also 32 years old...
