With his laid-back personality, I was kind of thinking he'd sound more like one of Pang Tong's incarnations in the Dynasty Warriors series, but Patrick Seitz does do a good job with Gouto's voice here nonetheless. Matthew Mercer also does a great job with Raidou/Raido. And as a bit of trivia, my goodness, how many characters share his voice actor duo; Tomokazu Sugita in Japanese and Matthew Mercer in English? First Chrom, then Yusuke Kitagawa, now Raidou Kuzunoha XIV? Are they a common voice pairing like Hikaru Midorikawa and Yuri Lowenthal seem to be?

From the cues we get in the Raidou Kuzunoha games and Nocturne Maniax Chronicles, Raidou needs to control himself. Gotou straight up tells Raidou to not accidentally kill Demi-Fiend, and he still does this if the Game Overs mean anything. The Soul Hackers Protag isn't as strong as Demi-Fiend was, even at the end of their respective games, so I presume that they just don't want to kill the protagonist.

Could anyone give me context here? Why there are two Raidou?

Basically, in the later portions of Soulless Army, Raidou gets thrown into an alternate universe by a crazy Russian guy. This universe is almost identical to his own, except there’s another version of himself and Gouto already there. Main Raidou meets these other versions, who both help him get back to his own world using a special ritual. In King Abaddon, the reverse situation happens. The alternate universe Raidou gets thrown into the main universe while fighting a demon and main Raidou has to use the ritual to get him back to his universe. By the end of all this, both Raidou are on relatively friendly terms and can presumably jump between universes freely with the Akarana Corridor, hence why they’re able to show up together for this boss fight.

@@NeutralOffensive So they're basically the same person: same name (which is unknown, I know, because of Atlus always giving in with this *silent-unnamed-hero thing), same personality, etc. Just: from a parallel universe. Right?

@@locked89 Yeah, mostly. I mean, AU Raidou is called “Raido” without the u, probably as a sort of joke. Despite that, they ARE supposed to be the same person, as acknowledged by both of them. Now, there are a few small things implying that events in the alternate universe might differ from those in the main one, but the game doesn't explore it enough to say anything concrete. Also, just to clarify, Raido (the AU one) does talk and have a personality of his own in both his appearences. It's possible he might have a slightly different personality than main Raidou, but that’s hard to say due to the main one being mostly silent, like you said.

Also, in case you didn’t know, Raidou’s real first name is stated to be Johei in the Raidou manga. That’s the closest to a canon name we’ve got for him.

@@NeutralOffensive A bit of a small correction, Raidou's real name (Johei or Jouhei, depending on how you spell it. I personally prefer the later.) actually comes from the untranslated Messenger Of The Dead prequel novel. And ironically, the manga follows a slightly different canon where Raidou had to discard his original identity entirely in order to become Raidou Kuzunoha The 14th.
