3:10 - He’s not exaggerating either, he beat up Angra Mainyu (this game’s superboss, the previous Demon Emperor), potentially tangled with all three male Hero guys from Shin Megami Tensei, and killed the time god Zurvan BEFORE throwing his humanity away (though not for lack of trying). Hazama’s mobile game prequel really put it all in perspective, just rolled up to Makai and Homestuck Acts 1 to 5’d the place in a day.

Literally this, wrecked the entire place with Amon periodically leaving to do other things with just a sacrificial vessel, some demons, and occasionally his partner demon until the end where they reunite if you make the right choices to absolutely ruin Angela Mainyu and then the god of time

I mean, yea, the "main three" routes are pretty...copy-paste as far as story beats are going, with some little divergences here and there...and then there's the "NG+" route...yea, I really REALLY look forward to seeing you cover all these routes with the same flair you did with the rest of your Told Long series.

On the note of Guardians, do you happen to know a good way to fish for Valkyrie on Yumi early on? I’m contemplating a manga-accurate run of this game sometime later.

Domain of Pride!? That was more of a Domain of Humiliation for me, as I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't find Vine to be that much of a pushover at first. That is....until I upgraded my firepower to Eagle Guns and leveled up 3 or 4 more levels. Also helped that i finally was spared his dreadful lightning spells by the RNG god.

If you ever do a run of the game again, try finding Hee-Ho-Kun/Raiho. He’s a friendly Jack Frost in the school who will join up no questions asked, and he’s a comparable Level 12 to Vine’s Level 15 with both Dia (single healing) and Rakukaja (mass defenses buff for the party). Only snag is that he’s slower than Vine, so his assortment of Bufu magic has no shot of freezing the boss to stop their turn.

@@toryficarola You just find him and he’ll offer on the spot after talking about having fun pretending to be a student. Trebel0096 did a full playthrough of the Reiko storyline quite a ways back and recruits him for the early game, so just skim the first two or so parts and you’ll be able to glean the location. Also, Vine apparently has 80 MP and most of their (he’s riding a mount so I’m talking plural) magic takes up about 4 per shot. Apparently. The SMT Wiki can be hit and miss with obscure titles and remakes. Anyways. You could probably turtle and heal stall by putting your humans to defend or shell out medicines as needed while the Jack Frost spams Rakukajas till they either stop working or the little gets snuffed out. Also, put your stat gains to either Luck for better evasion (assuming this is like the OG SMT) or Magic for magic defenses to survive the Vine better if that doesn’t end up being enough.
