I don't know if you seen but there is two optional scenes with yakumo in tokyo after that final mandatory scene and it unlocks nuwa for fusion and gives him sliiiightly more closure. Personally I think it would have been cooler if he became a party member like raidou/Dante at that point.

Vengeance made things so much better I loved the original game but dang I love this one so much and I love that they built on the demon interactions with the haunts and the new side quests where you play as them

The primordal Chaos or White Ending 2.0. I still prefer New Chaos Ending from Strange Journey Redux, and Chaos Ending from SMT II. Yoko ending is too extreme.

@@oberon_relic1161 Yes, the new world born from pure chaos is big enigma. It can be new world without any life, world like us but worse, or like you said world without relation to the old one. Or even chaos can crate no world. It's basically reset ending, like White Ending but without nihilism behind that. Law Ending in Vengeance is pure paradise, where every wish is granted, and this also bad, because if someone would wish ,,destroy the world'' (not every people wish will be good, most of the wishes would be selfish), it will be also granted. Both endings sucks for humanity. the only one good ending for humanity in SMT V is old Law Ending when you are new YHVH and you can fix (or keep) his order, and maybe True Neutral Ending, but this world is also doomed to die, without demons chaos and god order, human world will die himself in the end.

Worth it on the Switch. Still looks beautiful, and it stopped being ocassionally glitchy. The extras were very useful to me, especially my old Black Rider (though I did not use my other two demons too much other than for passing high level skills/abilities.) I did not use him as soon as possible as Black Rider by itself can almost break the game with Soul Divide. But that aside, the initial Chakra Drops were super useful for the beginning of the game (and perhaps why my second time through CoC felt so easy relative to the OG.) If you only have the Switch and enjoy playing on the go, still totally worth it on it. Of course the other consoles are more technically capable, and to each their own.

yeah, I agree with the point of that while they improve some things they dropped the ball on other things like you mention with the Abdiel thing which I was like good thing I played the original 4 years ago. Also notice that in the demon haunt some demons gave you quests. I liked the game and enjoyed the new storyline and glad I played it on my ps5. one play through was enough for me xD

Your review was great but ngl... when the "You know what" boss fight music came on , i started jamming and forgot about the review. Jokes aside lol great review, i dont think you're wrong per say about the story per say. I actually do like the way they told the narrative in the base game and vengeance but the gameplay is so damn good id still recommend it. But i do know people who do really like well told stories and if they're in it for that like how Persona tell their stories? I'd tell them to wait for a sale or just not get the game at all, but oh my god i love this game so much!!!! 12/10 no notes (even though i wrote notes)

Oh boy, Mastema. Makes me curious what you'll think of Strange Journey when you get there. Weird that they treated the canons as complementary when the alignment routes already incentivize replays. AND they still didn't flesh out a couple elements in either one? Weird. I figured Vengeance would've been more like the Etrian Untold games: the original experience, rebalanced, and a story where the writers were fully committed. Hope the new multiplatform players are enjoying it. Hard to recommend Nocturne as a series starting point now.

I wouldnt say SMT is known for its deep characters either, but somehow they're all deeper than base V. I was disappointed with how characters turned out in vanilla, and Vengeance seems to explain why it felt like that since it appears as though Vengeance was how ATLUS implemented their cut content

It is a little bit much for one game. The game has the missing story content in the Canon of Creation. So you could first play that one and the Canon of Vengeance after you finished that. It will fill in the missing gaps. Takes about 150 hours if you do New Game + reborn. It makes you dubble visit areas, but you can do the side quests you got locked out from on your first playtrough.

Still keeping my OG SMTV and still love it. But for Vengeance yooo i had to upgrade for the PC version also there is the Steam deck which is neat to. I keep on getting shocked that loading and transitions go by so quickly on PC because i've spent 500+ hours on switch version. The story didn't blow me away but i was happy enough that it's complete regardless of development issues including that annoying Pandemic at the time.

I agree with everything…I just want to add that it’s getting to feel a bit predatory that SMT and persona games are always going to have a vanilla version, and then a deluxe (the proper experience). Vengeance should have been the base game, and I don’t think it’s right to charge full price for this. I’m tired of feeling fomo and essentially repurchasing something, just to have it be mostly the same experience. I know that not all people feel like this…but there are so many great games out here these days, I don’t want to play a 100 hour single player experience multiple times (with only slight variation)..and I don’t want to REplay it on top of that, just to experience different endings or additional content. When I finish it the first time, I want to be pretty much done with it. I’m totally down for a dlc that adds new areas and additional endings and whatnot, but enough is enough I loved how crosscode and blasphemous did their DLC expansions, for example. But not this…this is ridiculous

I'm remembering how long it took for Vanilla to come out in the first place and they still had to do that. Even with p5 I could tell Royal was just a blatant cash grab, but them basically saying they felt Vanilla smt5 was kinda ass and this version was needed just feels weird. this game is incredible and probably the most well done and impressive atlus upgrade to an almost unbelievable degree. that said the battle theme in the game after you get yoko is worse than the normal games battle theme so i give SMT VV a 0/10 baybeeeee.

They were trying so hard to give Dazai the "oh no he's hot" moment but failed twice. They could tone down the jackassery by a mile. He could still gain confidence and conviction. Probably would have worked. And I wished that instead, Tiamat intentionally directed that attack on Nuwa and Yakumo. It will still be destructive, but at least it would make sense how they died, and everybody lived.

To this day, I still don't understand why people say dazai got dirty on vengeance, on abdiel, yes, abdiel got the short end of the stick with all of her development being cut and being offscreen for the most part, but with dazai, his transformation into edgy boy was not only justify, but done properly, to me, is like people have this insane ability to complete ignore basic reading skills, just to make it clear, I understand the game should make this things clearer, but it's literally there, I for once thanks the fact that the devs didnt insult my intelligence but spoon feeding me the answer to all things. Dazai edgy backstreet boy phase was justify and done properly, because mastema is an angel of punishment, and one of his main powers, is controlling demons, an lets not forget that he is also a part of yhvh, or the god of creation for those new to the series, specifically speaking, his malice, but what does that have to do with dazai getting a 360 change in attitude, everything, because something smt fans know is that the devil summoner program allows you to enter with pact with demons, sharing their powers at time, storing them and using their data later, including fusions, all of this grants power to the user, hence they become more like demons, which is why mastema is able to control dazai and make him his herald of order, but wait you say, I would need to play smt 1 2 4 4 apocalypse, redux, read the novels and such to know this, normally yes my perceptive friend, BUT NOT HERE, because aogami literally gives you this information during the school incident, albeit condense, but he tells you that using the demon summoning programs makes user be more like demons, and this behaviour with dazai becomes more clear as the game progress, he becomes more acertive, and funny enough, he is the one looking for a fight in vengeance when the whole egypt part goes those, even though every one else wanted to resolve things through dialogue, so when people say, this was not foreshadow, they're just completely wrong, even mastema controlling demons is something that you're also told in vengeance, but you can also find that out if you played strange journey, but again, the game does tell you here, but people don't want to pay attention. Besides all that, entertaining video, I always have that issue with content creators just ignoring the dazai thing, but it is what it is, also, why does everybody things that beelzebub theme is great, is mid as fuck, there's infinitely better theme in the game, just because his is a catchy tune doesnt mean is better.

Once i found out your choices dont really have much of an impact i dropped the game during the school take over. I really loathe how smt forces you towards these paths but you really dont have much say in them. The gameplay was such a huge upgrade from vanilla but the story just didnt hit for me and thats crucial in these overly long jrpgs. Yoko fell into the same category as the girl from strange journey on the 3ds

I do think Vengeance is a fun game, but it still feels like a cash grab to me. I was totally fine with the minimalistic story telling in the Creation route as It could allow the lore of its universe and the gameplay do the heavy lifting. The added scenes and extra dialogue only really serve to confirm things I already knew about and pad out the run time, so it felt wasteful. That and no matter how much they tried to stitch Yoko into the plot, I just couldn't bring myself to care. All in all, Vengeance just felt like 60$ New Game plus.

I've never been into the main series besides Nocturne so this was my second entry and I wanted to love 5 vengeance but I just really liked it. I hope when 6 comes out in 30 years they learn from this games faults. Or maybe Metaphor will do that. Get hyped.

I remember I didn’t finish the original SMTV. I got so ticked when I got to the final area and lost my primary healer that I’d invested so many resources into so it was viable. I know now that’s not how these games are meant to be played since it’s all about upgrading demons, but I just killed my motivation.

oddly i played p5 and p5royal and both felt totally new + enthralling to me to the point where i can't even see royal as being remotely a cash grab. it's definitevely what i think is a fair game re-release bc both SLAY .... as for smt v vengeance .... smt v was shit ... smt v vgengeance was ... less shit. i mean i liked the qadistu theme. but that was just really. bad. it reminds me of how bad the smt x fire emblem collab was and i credit directly to being a smt collab

It’s better - very good gameplay improvements and the story is slightly better, but still not that crazy. I really was mostly glad it wasn’t stuck on Switch. Really I prefer linear JRPGs with good dungeons, not games where you can kinda level past everything and trivialize the whole game.
