Danny (beige hat, grey tshirt) decided to put this together and did it really quick and mixed it himself (he's has started producing in the last decade). He was the one who recorded first then sent it to the rest. He sent it to Oli first, then Niall, then to James. And Tom (piano) was called by Danny to participate and he was like "you have 3 hours to do it" haha. So it's even more impressive how good it sounds, considering how rushed it was

McFly is worth diving into. Each of their records have a different vibe. They are such great song writers and musicians. This song was originally a McFly record that Niall and James used to cover at gigs.

Here goes a happy rant :) This is the video that got me into 1D universe :) I've been a huge fan of McFly since 2007, and usually I check everything they put out, even during their long hiatus, but this time work happened and I only saw this video at the end of September. I knew everyone except the guy named Niall. He sounded sooo good, I just had to check his stuff out)) Watched Black&White, fell in love with the song, went to Nice To Meet Ya, fell in love with the artist)) Then I read comments and discovered that he is from One Direction, a name of the band I heard ages ago but never gave it a single listen (not even WMYB to write them off xD). Saw Harry Styles among the 1D names in some cute comment - next video in queue happened to be Sign of The Times by Harry Styles. I watched it and realised that my life will never be the same. Literally. At the same time I was so frustrated with myself for not getting to know them earlier! So I binged watched all I could find about Harry and Niall and then had no other choice but to dive in headfirst to 1D rabbit hole. So I'd got to like all of it because I was already a fan of those two))) So WMYB is not bad cheesy for me, it's amusing and nostalgic)) So yeah, that was the right way to know this band and I can't be more greatful to this video for that. I wish it had millions of views so more and more people repeated my journey cuz it's been great so far

@@notquiteacoconut7090 yes, you're right, not so much now though, people start to appreciate them, which is long overdue! But there is a few of slow ones who still hate on them without even giving one listen, takes me a lot to ignore them. I can imagine how it felt when a lot of people thought of them as "a teenybooper manufactured lipsynching band for 12 year old girls". How on earth you got through that, I dunno, I'd break my fingers fighting those off)

You should definitely check out McFly!! They have been around forever and they write music for other artist, they wrote some stuff for One Direction! Olly Murs also has a few really known songs! Check them out it will be worth it!

They are really good mates, at least niall is with all of 'em and I think they came up with this idea on their own, wanting to bring some light to dark times, shoutout to the key workers and all. That's why they chose shine a light, which is originally by Mc fly

Niall suggested it after he sang it on a live instagram, in which James told him that he used to play it in his pub gigs. Olly (big friend of Niall) has also sung this before. Tom (on piano) and Danny from McFly are friends of Niall also, and McFly helped Niall with writing the 1D song Don't forget where you belong.

Danny Jones from McFly did the mix/production on this. Danny recorded his bit first and then the other guys recorded it based on that recording. It was really last minute. They did it all in less than a day! This is originally a McFly song that shares vocals between Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.

They were live in their own homes. It was on Zoom, or similar programme. Niall didn't like Zoom when he used it, because there is a slight delay which spoils the effect. In one of his live streams, he said he had found a better programme, so probably this is what he used

If you think this sounds good...you should really check out Little Mix's "Touch" for the One World at Home concert....for 4 girls not being in the same room...they nailed harmony like no other...then again those girls know each so well, and no that song so well, that it was probably a no brainer for them! But you really need to check it out, totally worth it!!!
