Reylen I like it, and if people starting turning away from the band then they’re the ones missing out, but I do disagree with the whole “true fans” mentality. It doesn’t make people “true fans” for liking everything a band does, and it certainly doesn’t mean people aren’t just because they don’t like a direction the band is going or an era of a band. Criticism and honest feedback is important. For all you know he could be one of these guys who’s seen them 30 times and just isn’t a big fan of the last 2 albums. Listen to his criticisms and discuss that rather than throwing out a cop out comeback that doesn’t really mean anything.
@reylen38756 жыл бұрын
Jason King I see where you're coming from, but he's commented on every song saying shitty things about it which was fine at first but now a bit over the top. You are right though for the most part. I just don't think someone saying bad things on every new songs is the right thing to do.

You've got to understand that shinedown has been around for well over a decade. Bands change and writing the same genre of music is draining. Experimenting and creating new sounds keeps the band fresh and together. I for one love the new album and the concept behind it, glad to see shinedown going strong and trying new styles. Can still hear the influence from som and amaryllis In the songs too. This one is also my fave of the new album
@tims54815 жыл бұрын
I'm not a huge fan of it, but I respect them more for trying something different. We heard the change on Threat to Survival as well. Theory of a Deadman changed their style too and had their biggest single (RX).

Revisiting this 4 years later… I don’t know what people were bitching about. Shinedown is so damn good. This is one of their best songs on what ended up being a phenomenal album. The “they sold out crowd” can eat a bag of dicks. They’ve done more for their fans and addressed mental health and addiction issues better than Dr Phil or Whoopi Goldberg could ever dream of. Not that high of a bar… I know. Point being that they are so good. And continue to be good… and good to each other. I love em and will never doubt their intentions or music. Until they give real reasons to.

It can be a personal journey as an Artist, to create many pieces in different Styles. A challenge, both, to test skill and to grow. And if you look at all the different pieces you might get a look at the life, emotions, thoughts and the changes in them, because there are stories behind every little bit of art. Maybe one has to remind himself, that Art is like life, always in motion. Some Artists even grow restless or rather dissatisfied if they dont broaden their horizon. What I really wanted to Express is : Enjoy the Artists you like and their Story. Maybe you wont like some changes, but at least you know it all will change again. They are opening their hearts and minds, and we as an audience, shouldnt always feel entitled to have it our way, because it effectively takes the life and the beauty out of art.

Some bands change their sound every album, but still maintain their core sound, like Kamelot. Shinedown, they just like to be different every album, and that works for them. In the end, they make the product, and we have the option to purchase it. So, if people don’t like it, that is fine. I tend to judge each song and album separately, but I wouldn’t ever try to tell a band what why have to make.
@kimuralove10963 жыл бұрын
@@Brandon2940 I don't judge 'em for being adaptable. 🤷 I enjoyed their 2018 album IMMENSELY. I usually don't have the patience/attention span to sit and play an entire album without hate/rage-quitting because I get bored or only a couple of songs are any good. I decided to give it a whirl with "Attention Attention" because I knew I loved Monsters, Devil, Brilliant, Special, Darkside, and Get Up. I like all of them, they alternate the favorite spot depending on my mood. Sometimes I really wanna hear Black Soul or Kill Your Conscience or Creatures. And there are songs I dislike, especially his cover of Simple Man. (My favorite Simple Man cover is actually Jensen Ackles. Amazing voice.) But I have a big soft spot for Shinedown as a rule, and I am more impressed with their new sound than any other point I've been a fan. And Brent Smith has mastered the whole extreme glow-up thing. The guy looks like he had a full-body transplant. Good for him lol

I’m not entirely sure, but I think he says “habits” and “words”, not “rabbits” and “wolves”. “Where habits have teeth and the words carry knives.” Could be wrong, that’s just what I hear
@xKillerClownx6 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I actually agree with you, I've been thinking it was "habits" since I started transcribing, but it didn't make sense in context of what I, or others, had in for the 2nd word (world's, wolves). Good call, updating.
@dixieslav12746 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't you "rain" havoc from above? I don't think that "reign" is the correct spelling in these circumstances, but I may be wrong.
@xKillerClownx6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Swiderski That's a good question/point. I dug into it. It's weird though, it's like a mixing of 2 phrases "rain death from above" and "wreak havoc". So, based on the first phrase, I believe you are actually correct. Updating lyrics to reflect this.
