I didn't create the sound of madness, but I was with someone who caused a lot of pain. I don't know if he knew how to live outside of prison walls? But with people around him he was a devil in disguise.😮

Love this song. The music can’t never be loud enough. You can NOT not headband to this song and sing your heart out. Personally for me, this song tells my story. So hard to not sing it and get emotional. Music is so healing.

The sound of madness, as Brent will explain in his interviews, could really just be the steamy gurgle of the coffee pot, making love to the snooze button of your alarm clock rousting you out of your sleepy stupor as you pull yourself together for getting to work.....the rhythmic thrum of the shower pelting on your back, the ambulance sirens whizzing by your window.....or the soft, quiet place you go to gather your thoughts... it's more of a humble metaphor that takes on relative perspective as it applies to the listeners world in general, from their internal monologue and their personal unique situation, it's memory ghosts between the beats, it's different to every member of the audience. This piece can hit every nuance on the philosophical spectrum. It's potent medicine for the brain. I love this song!

I always say Shinedown is my "go-to" band. I wish this band had been around 40 years ago, I would have been living a better life, I believe. But then sometimes I think that the "road of shame" brought me to Shinedown. Therapy in music. Truth never felt so good. Peace
@athelwulfgalland
@athelwulfgalland 10 ай бұрын
I hear you loud & clear, 40 years ago would have put this in my early childhood, like the 1st grade time frame. That said we go through the hardest of times in our lives, the worst experiences & our greatest tragedies so that we can arrive at a time that might not be optimal but when looking back it seems like the difference between heaven & Earth. Goodness how this song alone would've changed my life just 30 years ago - but if it did I can't even imagine where I'd be today. I can never say I'd trade my life today for another version of today I don't know because it would deny those whom I've met that mean the most to me.

I don't think anyone else could of ever sang "Simple Man" the way it should be sang, except him. This band rocks. My son is locked up for a long time & I really miss him. Oh wow! Never thought to even check these comments. Ty for the couple of positive things you posted. So many ppl do not understand how things that we do to ourselves or others do to us, affects many. Especially the ones who really love us & we do not even realize it or believe it. No one ever wants to talk about the bad. B/c I don't struggle every day to make it, most ppl believe that it's not even a problem. Some ppl think & feel their lives are way worse than mine. Some are. Some are not. Either way, everyone's problems are big & important to themselves. That is all that matters. I try to practice understanding than trying to be understood & life is better. Prison no is not where I would like to have my son? I do have him. A lot of mothers do not. It's all about gratitude.

Kelly McNeely Hey, do you have a Bible? If not then you need to go buy one and read some of the New Testament, it's very inspirational and the way that you've written these comments look like they should be in the Bible itself! The comments sections for pretty much every Shinedown video is FULL of inspirational words, and I believe yours are the most inspirational of them all! I'm really sorry about your son, in fact, I'll pray for his safety. Never believe that you're alone because God will always be there with you.

Shinedown isn't my favorite band by all means, but they make some really great and memorable music. I heard a KZbin short that the couple from Spiritbox was having some financial issues after covid. They spent a fortune on equipment for a European tour and did a few shows when Covid hit. They were financially critical and I think Brent(?) from Shinedown reached out and offered financial assistance because he believed in them so much. If that doesn't soften your humanity check your pulse, I'll always be a fan of their music but more importantly the people behind the music that drives our everyday life. That's quality stuff, thank you Shinedown because i am a huge fan of Spiritbox since their humble beginnings to worldwide tours and Grammy nods

I'm forever grateful to this band for getting me into appreciating heavier forms of music. I now have transitioned into being an avid extreme metal fan (Black and Death metal). I will never forget Shinedown/Godsmack Aug. 28 2018 in Burgettstown, PA. This was the song that led the show, 1st concert ever; when you see someone famous live, it's just surreal.

this was the first shinedown song I've ever listened to and I see it still hasn't stopped giving me a weird sense of power whenever I hear it like it makes me feel alive at times and I've been raised on other good bands thanks to my mom and sisters I just love shinedown above most of the other bands except ffdp they will always be my #1 favorite band

Cause it is empowering. The songs about seizing control of your life instead of dwelling in self pity. Kinda ironic since one of their original hits was about staring down the barrel of a .45.

Third music, help me through my opiate addiction and got me through it. Help me stabilize and get my head straight. So that way I could be there for my family. My wife and my kids, their music is amazing.

Sound of Madness Yeah, I get it, you're an outcast Always under attack Always comin' in last Bringin' up the past No one owes you anything I think you need a shotgun blast A kick in the ass So paranoid Watch your back! Oh my, here we go Another loose cannon gone bipolar Slipped down, couldn't get much lower Quicksand's got no sense of humor I'm still laughin' like hell You think that by cryin' to me Lookin' so sorry, that I'm gonna believe You've been affected by a social disease? Well then, take your medicine I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself? I'm so sick of this tombstone mentality If there's an afterlife, then it'll set you free But I'm not gonna part the seas You're a self-fulfilling prophecy You think that by cryin' to me Lookin' so sorry, that I'm gonna believe You've been affected by a social disease? Well then, take your medicine I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself? I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up? When you gonna wake up and fight? I created the sound of madness Wrote the book on pain Somehow, I'm still here to explain That the darkest hour never comes in the night You can sleep with a gun But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself? But when you gonna wake up and fight (for yourself?) But when you gonna wake up and fight (for yourself?) But when you gonna wake up and fight For yourself?

@@joanhighley5301 This is the ONLY band I've ever seen with ALL BABES, and although I LOVE their deep, deep music, the "easy on the eyes" is a very nice factor, too. Even my beloved, RAMONES had Johnny & the Beatles had George (& his cigarette teeth)... In Shinedown, they're all very fetching.
