But since they were M A D popular in Japan, they still sold a lot

Everyone, they weren’t singing live. It SOUNDS like they are singing live because this is what SM does now. Basically no one ever sings live now that there isn’t a crowd because of covid. What they do is they sing again before dancing, then they lip sync to that sound so it sounds like they are singing live. It’s not that they can’t sing live, it’s just that sm choreography are so hard and it wouldn’t sound good for anyone to be singing live while dancing to the dances. This isn’t just for Shinee, this is for a lot of groups in SM. No hate to them, love them all.

Think it's because *everyone* knows how good Taemin is. He's the original Golden Maknae and is probably the most famous member with his incredibly successful solo career. So it's no surprise that he's amazing. But a lot of people seem to have forgotten that Key is also a great singer, because he seemed to be made "Rapper No. 2" alongside Minho for years and didn't seem to get many big singing parts, so when they hear him actually singing big main vocal parts they didn't realise he was so good. That's what I think anyway, lol

Everyone, they weren’t singing live. It SOUNDS like they are singing live because this is what SM does now. Basically no one ever sings live now that there isn’t a crowd because of covid. What they do is they sing again before dancing, then they lip sync to that sound so it sounds like they are singing live. It’s not that they can’t sing live, it’s just that sm choreography are so hard and it wouldn’t sound good for anyone to be singing live while dancing to the dances. This isn’t just for Shinee, this is for a lot of groups in SM. No hate to them, love them all.

@Tim Otte Big Bang is a hip hop based boygroup. Thats like comparing Ikon and Bts (2020 bts not old school). Like sure, if you really want to compare them, go ahead but its not really a valid comparison. And its a yg group from 2005 vs an sm boy group from 2008, comparing the choreographies is purely like no. That's not a good idea. Yg choreo is swag based, nothing else, and that's fine because it emphasizes the song. I mean, yang hyunsuk was once of the choreographers for seo taiji and boys and thats where most of his inspiration for kpop came from, so his hip hop based groups with an emphasis on rap and swaggy choreography makes complete sense. Maybe you could compare super junior to big bang since at least they came out in the same year but again, it's an sm group vs a yg one. They're built incredibly differently and they're meant to cater to a different type of audience.
