Maybe this is a 'language barrier' thing, because English is not my first language, but I still don't see the bad thing on the word "backup": "A backup dancer also known as a background dancer is a *performer* who dances *with* or behind the *main performers* in a live musical act or music video." I admire backup dancers, and I know some of them are teachers and great choreographers too. But, on videos like this, they're not the *main dancer* , the celebrity, and that's ok. By calling them "backup" we are just *defining* which type of work they're doing right here, but not defining the whole person. A simple example: if I work as a background artist on a videogame, I will be credited as "background artist". Am I just a background artist? No, I can draw many other things too, I'm a complete artist, but on that specific project I was working as a background artist.

what i love about his dancing is that he is so talented that it doesn't even look like he's dancing. it just looks like his body is being moved by the music, like the music is coming from the way his body moves. his dancers are incredible too, but they look like they are trying to dance. there's a sense of effort you get from them, and taemin's dance feels so effortless, like it's his body's natural state. he's the best dancer i've ever seen.

Someone said this on twitter that they love the fact that the dancers can dance to their fullest capabilities because they don't have to worry about outshining Taemin and I completely agree. Not only that but you can still see that Taemin is mostly keeping it under control and not going full 100% this is about 70% I'd say. Backup dancers usually have to hold themselves back since the artists they dance with are usually not at their level but here they go all out and by the end of it look so exhausted. I love watching both the artist and backup dancers go ham together because they know they're all talented enough to do so

I think I read somewhere that one of the back dancers (forgot their name agh) said Criminal is the hardest/most tiring choreo they’ve had to do so far as a back dancer in their entire career. Major kudos to them all, they look absolutely exhausted at the end! Truly letting out their best dancing with Taemin. I hope they’re also going to be with Taemin in the title track for Act 2 when it comes out in November!

When Taemin jumps and lands solo you can hear his feet hit the floor which says to me they didn't edit his footwork sounds. And it is expected to hear a sound when jumping and landing. But anywhere else in the dance barely a whisper is heard from his footwork. I think a big difference between Taemin and other dancers, talking about feet in particular is he uses his feet differently. He doesn't forget to include his feet/shoes in his lines or moves. Similar to a ballet dancer pointing their feet. The dance may start at his core/center, but it extends through and past his fingertips and toes. Take the other dancers here, which they are amazing too! But they seem to leave their feet to do their own thing or their feet are a brick, something heavy at the end of their leg. Which with those heavy shoes they seem to prefer, isn't far from the truth. Notice Taemin's shoes have thinner soles and more flexibility. This allows his foot a greater range of motion.
