C'mon, there's all sorts of incredible composers in this field, and Camelot has worked with some of the best (such as Sakuraba on the GS games).

You're right. There are lots of composers out there who are awesome. Sakuraba has great battle themes for sure and he is prolific. He's a great composer. He's been around forever. His other music just doesn't really do it for me. Dunno what it is. Like listening to Beyond the Beyond. That was produced by Camelot and composed by Sakuraba few years after Shining Force 2 came out and if you put these soundtracks side by side, it becomes evident pretty quickly which one is better crafted. It''s not even close. What I do know is that I every time I listen to Shining Force 2 I get goosebumps. From the world theme, to everything in between to the closing credits. Every theme, every piece is just so different from what you'd ordinarily hear in an rpg but it fits. Somehow. All these weird dysfunctional harmonies ,,, The entire soundtrack is extraordinarily ambitious and I've never heard anything like it, before or since.. The harmonic language, counterpoint, virtuosic melodic lines and thematic development are about as refined and well produced a soundtrack as I've ever heard, especially for the time period and definitely for the Sega Genesis. I am a composer and so much of the soundtrack retains it's mystery and magic even after all these years. I'm still trying to figure out how this soundtrack actually exists. It shouldn't work. lol. Sakura is more traditional with his soundtracks which is fine but SF2 still stands up to almost any rpg soundtrack from any era I can think of. Most people won't really listen to Shining Force 2 and hear it beyond the fm synths but I do. I have become very familiar with the soundtrack and it always feels like there is something new to experience 25 years later. Lots of depth. So much energy and movement. So many strange chords that shouldn't work but DO. So much heart, so much soul and it's all articulated intelligently and with great attention to detail. Even the production values just SOUND different for fm synth as it normally sounds. The synth programming and the way sound envelopes are used.... The way the stereo field is used between instruments to emphasize the main theme with the counterpoint embellished behind it... It's a very progressive take on the rpg genre, musically speaking but it's more than that, at least to me. I just don't think people really realize how special and rare this music is. Takenouchi was playing a different game and if there was any fault of the soundtrack is this it was too far ahead of its time lol. @@hitkid2456​

+Aron Kidishu *SPOILERS AHEAD* Yeah he does, he joins you because he was blinded from fighting Volconan but as soon as he gets his vision back he remembers hes one of the bad guys and ye must eventually fight, during his dying moments he states he wishes he wasn't fighting for the devils. He had a pure heart but got caught up in all the evil and corruption, it was the saddest moment in the game
