Shining Time Station RARE Original Season 1 Intro

RARE Shining Time Station original first season intro sequence from 1989-1991. This intro featured clips from various episodes in the credits. Rebroadcasts after 1992 or so replaced this intro with the more familar "Bluebird and Butterfly" intro with the "Population 5,006 Give or Take" billboard ending, and the original was lost over time.

This takes me back. This show is how I became aware of both Ringo Starr and DiDi Conn. My parents got introduced to them as a part of the Beatles and from Grease respectively, and I got introduced to them because of this show. PBS was really the only channel my parents let us watch growing up so this and all of the other PBS shows of the time are such a part of my childhood.

Ah nostalgia... you always make me wish I was so much younger. I miss seeing Thomas and Friends. I guess I never really knew the original version though, since Shining Time Station was an American spin-off of the original British series.

What I like about S1 is how they use the correct titles for the Thomas episodes during the end credits. personally I think they should have gotten a British actor that everyone liked to narrate Thomas after Ringo left.

In about 1992 the intro was replaced with the more familar intro that had the "Population 5006 give or take" billboard ending on reruns. That's right. With the exception of John Lennon as of December 8, 1980 because he was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman in New York City; 4 years before Thomas and Friends aired in the UK. So all the Beatles (except John Lennon) hopefully got to see Ringo Starr's work on Thomas and Friends despite their breakup in the early 1970s.
