the reason why ihy luigi is a living skeleton is because any mario enemy has a dry bone counterpart in some way, dry bones are koopa's after death same for goombas and even parranhia plants and bone fish and spinnies which would make sense that ihy luigi would become a dry bones version of himself.

The way i see it, Luigi survived because his hatred burned brighter than the lava around him. Classified Castle features Stanley, the Mario Personalization AI designed to make the game better.
