Fun Fact: Archer Emiya is NOT the future of Shirou in any of the 3 Fate routes (S/N, UBW, HF), but of another parallel universe in which he experienced a different "route" (i.e., Grail War). In the official Type Moon setting material, it clearly states that UBW Shirou will NEVER become "this" Archer Emiya. For S/N and HF, it states that there's still very small chance of becoming Archer Emiya, but that the possibility is very low. In each of these routes, Shirou finds his "answer" in one way or another and therefore does not become "this" Archer Emiya. - S/N route: Condemns Saber's wish as wrong >> realization that one "cannot change the past for the sake of those who have been lost" - UBW route: Realization that he "will never regret" through fight against Archer + Rin as his lifetime partner to guide him - HF route: Chooses to protect Sakura instead of becoming hero of justice With the above realization, Shirou either does not become Heroic Spirit at all or will never regret even if he becomes one, so none of the 3 routes lead to becoming this Archer. Archer Emiya's own experience of Grail War is said to be most similar to S/N route, but without the intimate relationship with Saber. Archer Emiya (as a Master) faced Gilgamesh in this route, which is the reason why he has countless Noble Phantasms stored (i.e., "traced") in his Reality Marble. By the way, the Archer class servant during his Grail War is a different servant because Archer Emiya only exists after he survived the Grail War to eventually become the hero being described in this episode. This, by the way, is the reason why Archer knows the true identities of all Heroic Spirits in this Grail War. In the VN and some parts of UBW and HF animations, various quotes from Archer Emiya suggest that he experienced a different route: - "was not able to save Saber (i.e., guide her to realization)", - "separated wtih Tohasaka after a while" (to go on his own journey to save people) - "it's the responsibility of hero of justice to forego even loved ones (alluding to HF Sakura) for the sake of many" - "don't let go Iriya if you've decided to hold her hands" (i.e., knows who Iriya is and relationship with Shirou, but had given up/sacrificed her)

Archer lies, betrays, assasinates,.... Archer slayed Sakura (the only case he kills someone close) Archer recieved help but didn't side with anyone. This route Archer took is the route with only EMIYA on it. And with noone to point out his flaw, he followed Kiritsugu's step and became Archer
