Every single driver in the Indonesian roads are opportunists, and paired with some kind of telepathical understanding between each other, the trafic is like a Tool Assisted Speedrun everytime the road is populated. You have one side of the road and the other, but if one side is more filled and one is sparsely driven on, it is almost autopilot that the crowded road gets slightly spilled onto the quieter road, and the drivers on that spilled road is expected to swerve slightly away from the half middle road marker. Or emphasizing on the opportunist part, if there is space on the opposite way road and someone want to overtake a slower driver, they WILL do it. Death is prevented by drivers on the opposite road recognizing this and slowing down, the overtaker SPEEDING THE FUK UP if they are stubborn pieces of tempe, a combination of the two, or patient people will just give up on the idea.

As long as you didn't ride argo based taxis, you would be fine. They can't change prices if using online taxis. I remember being tricked by a bluebird (taxi brand) where they turned around the road over and over so the price would be far more expensive than it should be. I didn't notice because I was falling asleep. When I woke up, the taxi drove in a different direction from where my house was. And when I called him out for it, he claimed that the toll brought us out on the opposite direction from my house, which is BS. In the end I had to pay twice the price to that a-hole. Ever since then, if I had to ride a taxi with argo, I refused to go to sleep. And even if I do try , it peeked a lot to make sure they didn't drive me to somewhere questionable

Be carefull of the motogangs here though, as they're often armed with both bladed and blunt weapons. If you notice either just one or few of them, it indicates that the motogang war is nearby. Sometimes, the gang war involved with less motorbike. Just saying. On the other hand, some of them may not associate with the said motogang but have different goal or purpose: to rob you, either for your ride, your money, or even both. And it happens way too frequently. Putting up your guard is highly advised.
