Damage is friggin' awesome. Had you left the decision up to us, I'd have voted for using the Ability Capsule to give Damage Poison Heal, no question. And yes, by the way- Petal Dance is the one where the Pokémon's locked into the move for the next turn or two, and then confused afterwards. Even if Manaphy hadn't hurt itself, switching in Damage was a smart move.

I would choose Shinx. I know it's probably really weird, compared to how everyone else has more powerful Pokemon choices. But my reasoning is for more of a... Connection purpose. Shinx was my partner in PMD EoT/D/S as well as the first Pokemon I caught in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I guess it's the reason I went with Turtwig/Grottle/Torterra as my favorite starter from Sinnoh. Loved him since the first pokemon movie, since I beat the Elite Four in Johto with him by my side; I cannot stress enough how awesome I think he is. Being able to resist things with rock-solid defenses, rolling into a wheel to blitz through things; I love him to death. Not to mention, access to earthquake and STURDY. Sturdy is one of the best abilities in the game.

This is my reasoning: A Pokeball is normally used on 1-10 Lvl. Pokemon; Great Ball on 11-20 Lvl. Pokemon; Ultra Ball 21-30+ Lvl. Pokemon. When a Great Ball is used on a 1-10 it's almost a guaranteed catch and same goes for Ultra Ball. Like if you agree.
